Cal State LA Athletics

2024: Was a major part of the Golden Eagles’ bullpen in his first year with the program. Appeared in 15 games, all in relief. Was fourth on the team in appearances. Went 0-2 with a 10.69 earned run average. Walked 10 and struck out 16 in 16 innings pitched. Made his Cal State LA debut and went 2 1/3 innings at Hawaii Pacific on Feb. 3. Went a season-long three innings and allowed two runs against Chico State on March 23. Tossed two scoreless innings in a 5-1 win against Cal State Dominguez Hills and pitched two scoreless innings and struck out two against Cal Poly Pomona on April 21. Struck out a season-high three in 1 2/3 innings against Stanislaus State. Allowed one or fewer runs in 10 of his 15 appearances.

At Bishop Amat High School: Earned first-team All-CIF honors and was the league’s Most Valuable Pitcher. Had an earned run average of 0.78 as a senior with a team-best 56 strikeouts in 54 innings.

Personal: Son of Moises and Monique Escobedo. Majoring in criminal justice. Enjoys going to the beach and golfing, lifting and cliff diving. Lists pitching during the RJ Legacy Games as his most exciting experience in sports.
