Biography

2018: Was one of the top power hitters in the California Collegiate Athletic Association in his second and final season with the Golden Eagles. Appeared in 49 games and started all of them. Hit .314 with 61 hits in 194 at bats. Hit 10 home runs and had 51 runs battled in and 35 runs scored. Led the team in RBI and was second on the team in home runs and batting average. Went 3-for-3 with a home run and a career-high seven RBI in a 12-4 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on March 4. Had a sacrifice fly in the first inning, a three-run home run in the fourth inning and a three-run double in the seventh inning. Went 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs and three RBI in an 8-7 win over Cal State San Bernardino on May 5. Hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the sixth inning. Hit a three-run home run and drove in four runs at San Francisco State. Had a season-high four hits in five at bats at UC San Diego on April 28. Went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in a 10-7 win over San Francisco State in a CCAA Tournament game on May 10 and hit another three-run home run in the next game against Cal Poly Pomona on May 11. For his career, appeared in 92 games and started 86 times. Hit .320 with 110 hits in 344 at bats. Had 17 home runs, 79 RBI and 53 runs scored.

2017: Had an outstanding first season with the Golden Eagles and earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honorable mention. Was second on the team with a .327 batting average, third in home runs with seven and tied for fourth in runs batted in with 28. Had a huge four-game series against UC San Diego and was named the CCAA Player of the Week after going 8-of-15 with three home runs, four scored and seven RBI. He went 4-for-8 with three home runs, five RBI and three runs scored in a doubleheader sweep at UC San Diego on April 29. Hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the seventh inning to erase a 1-0 deficit and give the Golden Eagles a 2-1 win in the nightcap after slugging two home runs in a 9-4 win in the opener. Had a two-run double and scored a run in a seven-run seventh-inning rally that produced an 8-7 win in Los Angeles on April 28.

At Grossmont College: Was a Mexican National Team bronze medalist. Earned All-Conference honors and was the Offensive Player of the Year after hitting .396 with four home runs, 14 doubles and 30 RBI. Had a slugging percentage of .800 and a fielding percentage of .980.

At Helix Charter High School: Was the Offensive Most Valuable Player. Hit .420 with seven home runs, 40 RBI and a slugging percentage of .800 as a senior. Had a career mark of .450 batting average with 21 home runs. Was a Power Showcase finalist. Hit a 492-foot home run and earned the Home Run Longest Distance Award.

Personal: Son of Jorge and Kendra Garcia. Majoring in sociology criminal law. Enjoys fishing, hunting and working out. Lists winning the College Wood Bat Home Run Derby in 2017, earning All-CCAA honorable mention, being a Mexican League National Team bronze medalist, hitting a 492-foot home run in the Power Showcase, being on the draft “players to watch” list and being the Babe Ruth “Colossus of Clout” winner as his most exciting experiences in sports.
