Cal State LA Athletics

2018: Made meaningful contributions for the Golden Eagles in his one year with the program. Appeared in 14 games and started four times. Hit .217 with five hits in 23 at bats. Had one run scored and one run batted in. Made his Cal State LA debut and went 0-for-2 against Stanislaus State on Feb. 9. Picked up his first hit and first RBI in an 8-4 win against British Columbia on Feb. 17. Went 2-for-4 in a 5-4 win at Cal State East Bay on Feb. 25. Went 1-for-3 and scored a run in an 18-10 win at Cal State San Bernardino on May 4.

At Bethany College: Appeared in 34 games with 25 starts in his one season with the NAIA program. Hit .250 with 11 runs scored, one home run and three RBI.
 
At L.A. Pierce College: Was named the Defensive Player of the Year in 2016. Hit .233 with 28 hits in 120 at bats as a sophomore. Hit .291 with 16 hits in 55 at bats as a freshman. Had an on-base percentage of .381.
 
At El Camino Real High School: Competed in baseball.
 
Personal: Son of Magdaleno and Yolva Vela. Majoring in business marketing with a minor in accounting. Enjoys golf, making money and stocks. Lists every time he steps on the field as his most exciting experience in sports.
