Cal State LA Athletics

2020: Made his return from major injury and contributed for the Golden Eagles before the season was halted in his final year with the program. Made three relief appearances and pitched a total of two innings. Had a 0-0 record with an 18.00 earned run average. Made his first appearance of the season and walked a batter at Cal Poly Pomona on Feb. 22. Pitched a scoreless inning at Cal Poly Pomona on Feb. 23. Retired the side in order on just nine pitches. For his career, made 14 appearances, including 11 starts. Had a 6-2 record and a 4.52 earned run average. Had 31 walks and 73 strikeouts in 69 2/3 innings pitched.

2019: Did not compete for the Golden Eagles while recuperating from injury.
 
2018: Was Cal State LA’s No. 1 pitcher before suffering a season-ending injury in late April. Made 11 starts for the Golden Eagles and led the team with a 6-2 record and a 4.12 earned run average. Picked up his first win for Cal State LA after allowing three hits and three earned runs over 6 1/3 innings while striking out eight at Cal State East Bay on Feb. 23. Struck out a season-high 10 in a 6-1 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on March 16. Went six innings and allowed five hits and one run. Won three straight decisions against Chico State on March 30, San Francisco State on April 8 and Sonoma State on April 14 to improve to 6-2. Tossed a season-high eight innings while allowing four hits and two runs in the win at San Francisco State. Went seven strong innings in his final start and allowed four earned runs while getting a no decision in a 6-5 victory at UC San Diego on April 27. Went at least five innings in all 11 starts.

At Cal State Northridge: Had a 2-1 record for the Matadors in 41 appearances. Picked up both his wins in 2016 while going 2-0 with a 4.00 earned run average. Was limited to seven appearances that year. Picked up his first collegiate win after recording four strikeouts over 2 1/3 innings against Northern Colorado on Feb. 27, 2016. Got his second win after tossing three shutout innings against Houston Baptist on March 19, 2016. Made two starts and a total of 19 appearances as a freshman covering 10 innings as a freshman. Had a 3.68 earned run average. Came back as a redshirt sophomore in 2017 and had a 0-1 record with a 6.35 earned run average in 22 2/3 innings.
 
At Los Osos High School: Earned first-team All-Baseline League honors. Was an outfielder and pitcher in high school. Was the Pitcher of the Year after striking out 90 in 15 games as a senior.
 
Personal: Son of Vinnie and Linda Deceglie. Majoring in sociology. Enjoys golfing and working out at the gym. Lists throwing a no-hitter in high school as his most exciting experience in sports. Notes he enjoys cooking.
