Cal State LA Athletics

2020: Had a strong first year with the Golden Eagles before the season was halted in his one year with the program. Appeared in 13 games with six starts. Hit .286 with eight hits in 28 at bats. Had four runs batted in and six runs scored. Also pitched in three games early in the season and had a 0-0 record with a 10.38 earned run average. Pitched a total of 4 1/3 innings in three relief appearances. Made his Cal State LA debut as a pitcher and allowed only one run over two innings against Northwest Nazarene on Feb. 8. Made his first appearance in the field and went 0-1 against Dixie State on Feb. 9. Picked up his first hit with the Golden Eagles and scored a run against Cal State Monterey Bay on Feb. 15. Had a season-high three hits and scored three runs in a 14-5 win at Stanislaus State on March 7. Had a two-run single to get the Golden Eagles started in an 8-7 come-from-behind win at Stanislaus State on March 8. Also had two hits and one RBI at Cal State Dominguez Hills on March 1.

At LA Harbor College: Earned first-team All-South Coast Conference honors as a sophomore after hitting .321 with 45 hits in 140 at bats. Scored 25 runs and drove in 17. Also played in 36 games as a freshman and hit .247 with 22 hits in 89 at bats.

At North Torrance High School: Was the team’s Most Valuable Player and earned second-team All-Area honors.

Personal: Son of Phil and Moana Northup. Majoring in sociology. Enjoys video games and hanging out with friends. Lists beating their crosstown rivals his senior year in high school as his most exciting experience in sports.
