Biography
2020: Was a big part of the bullpen once again for the Golden Eagles before the season was halted in his final year with the program. Appeared in five games, all in relief. Pitched a total of 7 1/3 innings. Had a 0-0 record with a 9.82 earned run average. Pitched a season-high 3 1/3 innings and gave up only one run against Cal State Monterey Bay on Feb. 15. Tossed a scoreless inning of relief at Stanislaus State on March 6. For his career, appeared in 17 games with one start. Pitched a total of 24 innings and had a 1-3 record with a 10.50 earned run average. Struck out 11 and walked 27.
2019: Had an increased role for the Golden Eagles’ bullpen in his second year with the program. Appeared in 11 games, including his first career start on Feb. 23 at Cal State Monterey Bay. Had a 1-3 record with one save and an 11.66 earned run average. Pitched a scoreless inning to preserve a 5-4 win at Cal State Dominguez Hills on March 10 and secure his first career save. Had three consecutive scoreless outings in March, beginning with the game at Cal State Dominguez Hills. Followed that up with 1 1/3 scoreless innings against Stanislaus State on March 16 and one scoreless inning against San Francisco State on March 31.
2018:Â Made his debut for the Golden Eagles and pitched two solid innings of relief against Cal State San Bernardino on May 3. Gave up one hit and one run over two innings while walking two and striking out one.
2017:Â Did not compete in any games for the Golden Eagles and was a redshirt.
At Eleanor Roosevelt High School: Was the school’s baseball MVP in 2013-14. Earned first-team All-League honors and was his team’s Pitcher of the Year. Earned All-Academic honors in 2015-16.
Personal: Son of Jaime and Rosa Garcia. Majoring in sociology. Enjoys playing sports, working out and spending time with family and friends. Lists closing out the game to record his high school’s first-ever CIF win as his most exciting experience in sports.
