Cal State LA Athletics

2020: Was a mainstay for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program before the season was halted. Appeared in 17 games and started 16 times. Solidified the infield at third base. Hit .161 with nine hits in 56 at bats. Scored four runs and drove in four. Went 1-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI in a season-opening 8-2 win over Northwest Nazarene on Feb. 7. Went 2-for-3 with one run scored in a 3-1 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Feb. 14. Drove in the go-ahead run to break a 5-5 tie in a 9-7 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Feb. 16. Earned 2019-20 California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic honors. For his career, appeared in 38 games with 30 starts. Hit .182 with 20 hits in 110 at bats. Had two home runs, 16 runs scored and 16 RBI.

2019: Did not compete for the Golden Eagles.

2018: Appeared in 21 games and started 14 times for the Golden Eagles as a junior. Hit .204 with two home runs and 12 runs batted in. Also scored 12 runs. Made his Cal State LA debut and got an at bat in the opener of a doubleheader against Stanislaus State on Feb. 10. Went 2-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI in an 8-7 win over Stanislaus State in the nightcap. Hit his first home run in an 8-7 win over British Columbia on Feb. 16. Also had a two-run home run in an 18-10 win at Cal State San Bernardino on May 4.

At Rio Hondo Junior College:  Had two productive seasons at the plate. Hit .329 with three home runs, 26 runs scored and 29 RBI in 2017 and hit .331 with three home runs, 21 runs scored and 25 RBI in 2016.

At Paramount High School: Earned All-CIF honors in high school. Earned All-San Gabriel Valley League honors three times and was a SGVL batting champion.

Personal: Son of Sergio and Trinidad Buenrostro. Majoring in fire technology and protection. Enjoys golf, spikeball, hanging out with friends and family, the beach and fantasy football. Lists getting to travel the United States going to New York, Texas, Florida, Arizona and Nevada as his most exciting experiences in sports. Notes he has brothers, Fred and Sergio, and that his baseball glove’s name is Beverly the second.
