Biography

2017: Had a phenomenal season for the Golden Eagles in his second and final year with the program. Was once again one of the team's best players, both on the mound and at the plate. Earned honorable mention All-America honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Earned first-team All-West Region honors from the NCBWA and the American Baseball Coaches and second-team honors from the D2 Conference Commission's Association. Also earned first-team California Collegiate Athletic Association honors and was a CCAA Player of the Week. Appeared in 48 games and started 47 times. Hit .318 with 61 hits in 192 at bats. Had nine home runs and 46 runs batted in. Also had 14 doubles and 37 runs scored. Was second on the team in home runs, RBI and doubles. Was third in runs scored. Had 19 multi-hit and 11 multi-RBI games. Had three or more hits four times and three or more RBI eight times. Made 14 starts on the mound and had an 8-3 record with a 3.43 earned run average. Walked 29 and struck out 73 in 89 1/3 innings pitched. Led the team in wins, innings pitched and strikeouts and had the team's best earned run average among starters. Had a sensational start for the Golden Eagles in a 3-2 win over Cal State Monterey Bay in the CCAA Tournament on May 11. Blanked the Otters on just four hits over eight innings. Walked only one and struck out seven. Scattered eight hits and allowed only one run over 7 1/3 innings in a 4-2 season-opening 4-2 victory over California Baptist on  Feb. 2. Also hit a pair of home runs and drove in three runs in the victory. Also hit a pair of home runs and had a season-high four RBI against Chico State in a CCAA Tournament game on May 10. Went 3-for-4 with two home runs, three runs scored and four RBI in a 13-3 victory over Concordia-Portland on Feb. 17. Got the win that game as well after allowing only one earned run over six innings and striking out eight. Had a season-high 11 strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings and got a no-decision in a 7-4 win over Northwest Nazarene on Feb. 9. Allowed only two unearned runs over nine innings against Cal State East Bay on March 25. Didn't walk a batter and struck out seven. For his career, appeared in 91 games with 90 starts. Hit .311 with 102 hits in 328 at bats. Had 11 home runs, 26 doubles, 73 RBI and 46 runs scored. On the mound, made 26 starts and pitched a total of 158 innings. Had an 11-8 record with a 3.93 earned run average. Walked 52 and had 120 strikeouts.

2016: Was one of the team’s best players as both a first baseman and a pitcher in his first year with the program. Finished the season on an seven-game hitting streak with four multi-hit games during the run. Went 13-of-28 with four runs and five RBI during the streak. Hit .301 for the season with two home runs and 27 RBI. Was tied for second on the team in runs batted in. Picked up a season-high four hits at San Francisco State on March 26. Had three hits including a home run and drove in a season-high four runs against Cal State Monterey Bay on April 17. Had five hits and eight runs  batted in during the three-game series against the Otters. Had nine multi-hit games, including four of the last six games. Was 3-5 in 12 starts as a pitcher with a 4.59 earned run average. Won his last two starts. Pitched six shutout innings and allowed only two hits in his last start of the season at Cal State San Bernardino on May 7. Went a season-high eight innings and picked up his first win at Cal State San Marcos on Feb. 27. Walked 23 and struck out 47 in 68 2/3 innings. Shared the team lead in strikeouts and was second in innings pitched.

At San Diego City College: Hit .304 with 31 hits in 102 at bats. Hit three home runs and drove in 14. Made 11 starts on the mound and had an earned run average of 4.44. Led the team with 53 strikeouts in 73 innings pitched. Earned All-Conference honorable mention.

At Ramona High School: Was the Valley League’s Pitcher of the Year and earned first-team All-CIF honors. Competed in baseball and football.

Personal: Son of Chris and Jackie Broussard. Majoring in sociology, law and society. Enjoys fishing, trail riding and 4x4 in the mountains. Lists the Connie Mack World Series in Farmington, New Mexico and the CIF championship in football as his most exciting experiences in sports.
