2018: Had a sensational senior season for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Appeared in 14 games and made 13 starts. Had a 6-5 record with a 4.38 earned run average. Shared the team lead in wins and was second among starters in ERA. Led the team with 76 innings pitched. Walked 38 and struck out 66. Was second on the team in strikeouts.Was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 30-May 6. Blanked Cal State San Bernardino on just two hits over a career-long eight innings in a 13-0 victory on May 5 in the last start of his career. Made his last appearance a good one, allowing only four hits and two runs over the final 6 1/3 innings to pick up the win in 10-7 victory over San Francisco State in a CCAA Tournament elimination game on May 10. Allowed only six hits and one run over 6 1/3 innings and got the win in a 3-1 victory at Cal Poly Pomona on March 11. Struck out a season-high seven in six innings and got the win in a 10-5 victory at Cal State Dominguez Hills on March 17. For his career, appeared in 47 games and made 17 starts. Had an 11-8 record with a 4.39 earned run average. Pitched a total of 149 2/3 innings. Had 76 walks and 119 strikeouts.

2017: Had another strong season for the Golden Eagles as a junior. Appeared in 13 games, including four starts. Had a 4-2 record with a 3.79 earned run average. Walked 24 and struck out 32 in 40 1/3 innings. Got his first career start and picked up a victory over Saint Martin’s on Feb. 17. Allowed five hits and only one earned run over six innings of a 7-3 win. Also got a win with six strong innings in a win at Cal State San Marcos on May 6. Allowed nine hits and one earned run. Allowed only two hits and one run over six outstanding innings of relief to pick up a win over San Francisco State on April 8. Struck out a career high six in four innings against Cal State Dominguez Hills on March 3.

2016: Was an important reliever once again for the Golden Eagles in his second year with the program. Made 11 appearances, all in relief, and had a 1-1 record with a 5.29 earned run average. Went two innings and allowed one run to pick up his first career win in a 5-4 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay on April 16.  Pitched a total of 17 innings with eight walks and nine strikeouts. Pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings against Sonoma State on April 2 in his best outing of the season. Walked two and struck out a season-high four. Did not allow a run in four of his relief appearances.

2015: Had a promising first season with the Golden Eagles as a freshman. Appeared in nine games, all in relief, and had a 0-0 record with a 4.96 earned run average. Allowed only five earned runs over his last eight outings covering 15 innings. Allowed no earned runs five times. Pitched a season-high four innings and allowed only three hits and one run at UC San Diego on May 2. Blanked Cal State Dominguezx Hills on just one hit over 2 2/3 innings on March 6. Walked six and struck out 12 in 16 1/3 innings.

At Los Altos High School: Was the school’s Male Athlete of the Year. Earned first-team All-League and second-team All-League honors during his career.

Personal: Son of James and Suzie Mendez. Majoring in sociology. Enjoys camping, golfing and ping pong.
