Cal State LA Athletics

2017: Had a second strong season for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honorable mention. Appeared in 50 games and started all of them. Hit .307 with 59 hits in 192 at bats. Had one home run, 28 runs batted in and 39 runs scored. Was second on the team in runs scored, tied for fourth in RBI and fifth in batting average. Went 2-for-5 with three runs scored and a career-high four RBI in a 13-12  win over Cal State San Marcos on May 4. Hit a three-run home run and also scored the game-winning run on a double by Nic Bereaud in the bottom of the 12th inning. Had a big two-run single to open the scoring in a 3-2 win over Cal State Monterey Bay in a CCAA Tournament game on May 11. Had 17 multi-hit games, including seven three-hit games. For his career, appeared in 97 games with 96 starts. Hit .282 with 98 hits in 347 at bats. Had one home run, 40 RBI and 59 runs scored.

2016: Had an outstanding season for the Golden Eagles in his first year with the program. Appeared in all 47 games for Cal State LA with 46 starts. Hit .252 with 39 hits in 155 at bats. Was outstanding defensively at second base with only seven errors in 265 chances for a fielding percentage of .974. Went 3-for-3 with one run scored at Stanislaus State on March 12. Had two hits and scored a pair of runs at Chico State on March 20. Also had two hits and two runs scored against Cal State San Bernardino on May 5. Had 10 multi-hit games, including four in his last six games.

At Cabrillo College: Earned first-team All-Coast Pacific honors as a sophomore. Hit .307 with 50 hits in 163 at bats.

At Kofa High School: Earned three varsity letters in baseball and earned All-Region honors as a senior.

Personal: Son of Angel Sanchez and Sonia Cornelio. Majoring in sociology. Enjoys playing ping pong.  Lists playing in the Babe Ruth World Series in Ohio in 2010 as his most exciting experience in sports. Notes he was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
