MEET QUOTES
Rossi Relays:
Marina Zeferino:Â "I was honestly in shock when I heard my unofficial 800m split was 2:32. I felt really strong, especially considering most of my training has been geared toward the 5K.
My 3K also went really well. I led the first six laps and felt smooth and controlled and ended up placing 2nd! This was only my fourth time racing a 3K, so I'm excited to continue developing and improving at this distance. I'm incredibly grateful to have such amazing teammates. Thank you to everyone who came out to cheer, and to my distance group for pushing me in practice and to Coach O for catering workouts specifically for my goals and for believing that I can hit those paces."
Sinaiah Pointer: "I felt very relaxed and ready to compete today. I consistently hit 13 meter-throws today and being consistent that early is my number one goal right now. It's an amazing feeling when all the hard work in practice translates to an amazing performance!"
Emmerson Wiggins: "I had a great time at the Rossi Relays running the 100 meters and the 4x400 relay. I'm really proud of myself because I PR'd in the 100 meters with a 12.2, and I haven't even been practicing block starts. The 100 isn't my main event, but I had faith in myself and just knew I was going to do well. I'm so happy with how my results and all the hard work comes out at the meets."
Head Coach
Tina Fernandes:"The Rossi Relays has consistently been an excellent venue for our first travel meet. We are genuinely thrilled to witness remarkable progress across all areas. Two of our throws performances have made it onto the national listing. Kailea Satterwhite excelled in the Discus with a throw of 48, placing her second on the national list. The second notable achievement came from the men's 4x400 team, consisting of
Drew Hill,
Nicholas Aninze,
Wallace Aflamah, and
Jalen Kennedy, who dominated the race from start to finish.
Â
"On the women's side, we also recorded impressive results, including Sinaiah Pointer, who secured second place in the shot put against an unattached athlete. There was a strong showing in the distance events, with Marina Zeferino leading the group and achieving a personal record. Our women's 100m teams also performed solidly, with the A team leading the way. Dalia Romo excelled in the 400 hurdles race, leading from start to finish.
Â
"On the men's side, we witnessed some remarkable opening times and marks.
Raye Duarte,
Nicholas Delgado, and
Trent Osburn competed in the 3000m, while
Mekhi Sanchez excelled in both the Long Jump and 100m.
Te'Quon Chatman also performed well in the Long Jump, and
Cahari Allen excelled in the Triple Jump. We achieved a season personal record in the 4x100 and we swept Section 1 in the 100 with
Wallace Aflamah,
Drew Hill, and freshman
Jalen Kennedy. By the end of the meet, the excitement remained high as our A team secured a decisive victory in the 4x400m relay."
Cerritos Open
Tony Espinosa: "I am content with it. I do feel like I could put more training in which I will do going forward. It's a lot of the technical aspects of all my events that I have to work on, because I know I can PR in each and every one of these events.Â
Head Coach
Tina Fernandes: "We are thrilled to have
Tony Espinosa on our team. He began with a personal record of 5857. Coach Ebanks oversees our multi-events and is doing an outstanding job ensuring that Tony receives the best guidance in each area. All the coaches appreciate working with Tony due to his strong work ethic. We are able to challenge him as he learns to refine his skills in every discipline. We are eagerly anticipating his continued growth. He has recently been elected as one of our team captains.
