LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's
Drew Hill didn't have to wait long to experience success after concluding his outstanding collegiate track and field career in May.
Hill captured the gold medal in the men's 100-meter dash and claimed the silver medal in the 200 at the ICTSI Philippine Athletics Championships earlier this month. Hill was competing on the FA Sports team and as a Filipino-American in the championship meet.
He edged Marc Brian Louis of Singapore in the 100 with a winning time of 10.46, just ahead of Louis' time of 10.49. Later, in the 200, the positions were reversed with Louis winning in 21.31 and Hill right behind in 21.46.
"Representing my country has been one of the greatest honors of my athletic career," Hill said. "I'm grateful for every opportunity this sport has given me and excited for what's still ahead."
Hill had a tremendous 2026 season for Cal State LA's track and field team. He earned second-team All-America honors in both the 100 and 200 after placing ninth in the 100 and 13th in the 200 at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. He also earned All-West Region honors in the 100, 200 and as part of Cal State LA's 4x400 relay team and he earned All-CCAA honors after placing second in the 100 in a bid for back-to-back conference championships.
"We take great pride in Drew achieving one of the significant goals he set at the start of the year," Cal State LA head coach TIna Fernandes said. "Securing the title in the 100 and finishing runner-up in the 200 is a remarkable accomplishment for his country and will create additional opportunities. Drew possesses immense potential for future development, and we eagerly await what the future has in store for him."
Hill's best mark of 10.27 in the 100 is No. 4 all-time at Cal State LA and his best mark of 20.87 in the 200 is No. 7. He finished his Cal State LA career with two All-America, six All-West Region and three All-CCAA awards.
