Three Golden Eagles Earn District Academic Honors

LOS ANGELES -- Three members of Cal State LA's men's and women's track and field teams have been named to the 2025-26 CSC Academic All-District Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Teams, selected by the district's College Sports Communicators, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Wallace Aflamah and Nicholas Delgado earned the All-District honors for the men's team, while Sinaiah Pointer earned them for the women's team.

The awards honor student-athletes for their combined performances in their field of competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program (formerly known as the CoSIDA Academic All-America program) recognizes honorees in four divisions - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

To be considered for the honor in track and field, a student-athlete must have earned a top-50 individual ranking in a single event during either the indoor or outdoor season based on TFRRS rankings at the time of nomination and carry at least a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 at his/her current institution. No student-athlete is eligible until he/she is at least a sophomore academically and athletically.

Aflamah had a sensational first season for the Golden Eagles that was highlighted by a California Collegiate Athletic Association championship in the 100 meters and a 20th-place finish at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. He was named the CCAA Newcomer of the Meet and earned All-West Region honors in the 100 and part of Cal State LA's 4x400 relay team. He had best marks of 10.30 in the 100 and 21.01 in the 200. His time in the 100 is currently No. 5 all-time at Cal State LA.

Aflamah is a computer information systems major and carries a 3.83 grade point average.

Delgado was one of Cal State LA's top distance runners and finished 11th in the steeplechase at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships. He had best marks of 4:28.96 in the 1,500, 9:33.44 in the 3,000 and 9:50.58 in the steeplechase. He was also a major contributor for Cal State LA's cross country team in the fall.

Delgado is a mechanical engineering major with a 3.57 grade point average.

Pointer had an outstanding finish to her three-year Cal State LA career. She won the CCAA championship in the shot put and finished fifth in the discus. She had best marks of 46-2 in the shot put, 134-8 in the discus and 122-5 in the hammer. She also had a best mark of 44-00.25 in the shot put in indoor track and field. She finished her career with the No. 9 mark all-time in the outdoor shot put and No. 7 mark in the indoor shot put.

She graduated from Cal State LA in three years and majored in communications with a 3.71 grade point average.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America programs.

The Academic All-America teams for track and field/cross country will be announced in July.
