LOS ANGELES – Cal State LA had a new record of 63 student-athletes earn California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic distinction for 2024-25, the conference announced on Wednesday.
A total of 1,150 student-athletes from the 12 CCAA institutions collected CCAA All-Academic honors in 2024-25 for posting a 3.40 grade-point average or higher and competing in a conference-sponsored sport during the designated academic year.
The CCAA began handing out All-Academic honors in 2005-06, and the 1,150 selections set the conference record, eclipsing the 1,030 selections set last year.
"Congratulations to all of the CCAA All-Academic honorees for once again setting a new conference record," CCAA Commissioner Allen Hardison said. "The dedication our student-athletes have towards academics and athletics is on full display with the impressive lists of names. I am so impressed with the hard work these student-athletes put into academics, training, competition, and being leaders in our communities. It is something our conference is very proud of. Thank you also to our coaches, academic advisors, and administrators who help drive our student-athletes towards success daily."
Cal State LA was one of 10 universities that showed an increase in 2024-25, climbing from 53 to 63.
The CCAA and NCAA Division II support the educational mission of college athletics by fostering a balanced and inclusive approach in which student-athletes learn and develop through their desired academic pursuits, in civic engagement with their communities and in athletics competition, creating a life in the balance.
The award is designed to be a demonstration of the academic achievements of each of the CCAA's 12 conference constituents. It illustrates just one of the many ways student-athletes in the conference take advantage of the unique opportunity Division II provides to compete in the classroom, on the field, in their career, for their causes, and on their terms.
In addition to the 63 student-athletes who earned CCAA All-Academic honors, the Golden Eagles also had seven student-athletes receive PacWest Conference All-Academic honors earlier this summer, bringing the total of student-athletes earning conference academic honors for the 2024-25 academic year to 70. The tennis players honored were Charlotte Downs, Courtlyn Lam, Sarah Olmos, Lea Rolland, Summer Roybal, Maldini Simic, Hideka Takamura.
