Cal State LA Athletics

2024: Competed for Cal State LA’s cross country team in the fall in his one year with the program. Ran in one race and finished 62^nd in the Seawolf Invitational with a time of 25:24.96 over four miles.

At Glendale Community College: Earned the team captain award in 2023 in cross country and was on the Dean’s List in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Had best times of 21:58.4 in the four-mile, 16:16.7 in the 5,000 and 4:46.0 in the 1,600. Competed in cross country and track and field.

At Helen Bernstein High School: Earned the team captain award in 2019, 2020 and 2021 in cross country and picked up the team’s Most Improved Award in cross country in 2019. Had best marks of 18:38.5 in the 5,000, 11:48.2 in the 3,200 and 5:23.8 in the 1,600. Competed in cross country and track and field.

Personal: Son of Francisco and Hegidia Rivas. Majoring in political science. Enjoys reading the news, watching movies and hanging out with friends and family. Lists the CCCAA cross country state meet in 2023 when he had an amazing time with his team and a great final race as well as the 3,200-meter league finals in track where he got second place in a close race as his most exciting experiences in sports. Says he’s also enjoyed helping his teammates and seeing them progress in his many years as a captain.
