Biography

2024: Was Cal State LA’s top pitcher for the third straight season in his final year with the program. Led the team in victories for a third straight season with a 6-6 mark and led the team once again in innings pitched with 63 1/3. Walked 43 and struck out a team-high 59. Earned California Collegiate Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week honors for the week of April 1-7 after tossing a complete-game seven-inning shutout over Cal State East Bay on April 6. Allowed only three hits and three walks and struck out eight. Struck out a season-high 10 and allowed only two hits and one run over seven innings of a 10-1 win at Azusa Pacific on Feb. 13. Also pitched eight shutout innings and allowed only three hits in a win at Sonoma State on April 14. For his career, appeared in 38 games with 35 starts. Had a 19-11 record with a 4.09 earned run average in 215 2/3 innings. Walked 124 and struck out 208.

2023: Had another outstanding season for the Golden Eagles and was the team’s best pitcher for a second straight year. He led the team in victories for a second straight season with a 6-4 record and a team-best 4.23 earned run average. Led the team with 78 2/3 innings pitched. Pitched at least six innings in eight of his last nine starts and was 4-1 during that stretch. Earned CCAA and West Region Pitcher of the Week honors for the week of April 17-23. Allowed only four hits and one unearned run in a 4-1 win at Cal State East Bay on April 21. Struck out eight and didn’t walk a batter in the nine-inning gem. Struck out a career-high 11 in seven strong innings in a win at Cal Poly Pomona on April 6. Allowed only five hits and an unearned run in six innings of a 9-4 win at Stanislaus State on March 24. Also went 6 2/3 outstanding innings and allowed only four hits and one earned run in a 7-4 win over Colorado School of Mines on Feb. 17. Went 8 1/3 innings and allowed only two earned runs in a 6-3 win at Chico State on May 4 in his final start of the season.

2022: Had a sensational season for the Golden Eagles and was the team’s best pitcher. Earned All-Region honors from three organizations, receiving first-team honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and second-team honors from the D2 College Commissioner’s Association and United Baseball Coaches Association. Earned first-team All-CCAA honors. Compiled a 7-1 record with a 2.57 earned run average. Led the CCAA in earned run average and was tied for third in wins. Was also fourth in the conference with 78 strikeouts. Made 13 appearances with 10 starts. Allowed only six earned runs over his last 50 2/3 innings covering eight starts lower his ERA from 5.87 to 2.57. Made his Cal State LA debut and went three innings of relief against Montana-State Billings on Feb. 5. Picked up his first win by allowing just one run in four innings of relief at Redlands on Feb. 11. Picked up his first win after allowing only three hits and two runs in six innings of relief in a 10-2 victory at Biola on Feb. 18. Made his first start and struck out a season-high over 10 innings in a 4-3 win over Stanislaus State on Feb. 26. Finished the season with his best start, allowing only four hits in seven innings in a 2-0 win at San Francisco State on May 6. Also tossed seven innings and allowed only seven hits and one unearned run in a 5-1 win over Cal Poly Pomona on April 30. Allowed only six hits and one run over seven innings in a 3-1 win over Cal State East Bay on April 15 and gave up just an unearned run over seven innings of a 2-1 victory over Chico State on April 2. Allowed only two earned runs over 27 innings in his last four starts. Walked six and struck out 24 over that span.

2021: Was on the roster, but team did not compete due to COVID-19.

At Cosumnes River Junior College: Was on the roster for two seasons. Went 1-2 in six starts in 2020 and had 24 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings pitched. Also made three starts as a freshman in 2019.

At Folsom High School: Earned second-team All-League honors as an outfielder.

Personal: Son of Rob Hunt and Michele Rambo. Majoring in economics. Enjoys hanging out with friends and family, golfing, working out and eating wings. Lists beating the No. 2 team in the first round of the playoffs after being down a game as his most exciting experience in sports.
