Summary

Biography

2021: Had a tremendous season for the national champions in his final year with the program. Earned second-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors. Was one of only two players to start all 23 games for the Golden Eagles. Played a total of 1,452 minutes. Scored two goals and had two assists for a total of six points. Scored his first career goal and also had an assist in a 4-0 win over Stanislaus State on Oct. 10. Got his second goal early in the second half to give the Golden Eagles a 2-0 lead in a 2-1 win over Colorado State Pueblo in an NCAA playoff game on Nov. 20. Picked up an assist on a goal by Gonzalo Talavera in a 3-0 win at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Oct. 22. For his career, appeared in 75 games with 68 starts. Played a total of 5,635 minutes. Had two goals and eight assists for a total of 12 points.

2020: Was on the roster, but team did not compete due to COVID-19.

2019: Had a sensational season for the Golden Eagles in his third year with the program. Started all 23 games and played a total of 2,141 minutes. Led the team in minutes played. Had four assists and four points. Had an assist on a game-winning goal by Robin Lindahl in the 78th minute of a 2-1 win at Fresno Pacific on Sept. 14. Had an assist on a goal by Ramon Hoffman in a 5-1 win over Stanislaus State on Sept. 27. Had an assist on a goal by David Elizaga in the first minute of a 2-0 win at Cal State Monterey Bay on Oct. 25. Also had an assist on a goal by Robin Lindahl in an NCAA playoff victory over Midwestern State on Nov. 23. Played every minute in 22 of 23 games.

2018: Played a big role for the Golden Eagles in his second year with the program. Started all 19 games he played in for Cal State LA and played a total of 1,753 minutes, which was third among all position players for the Golden Eagles. Had a pair of assists for a total of two points. Had an assist on the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win against Sonoma State on Sept. 23 and added an assist in an 8-1 win over Cal State East Bay on Oct. 4.

2017: Made an immediate impact for the Golden Eagles as a freshman. Appeared in 10 games and started three times. Played a total of 289 minutes. Made his Cal State LA debut in a 4-0 win over Bethesda on Oct. 31. Played a season-high 63 minutes and had two shots on goal in a 1-0 win over Hawaii-Hilo on Sept. 19. Played 59 minutes in a 1-0 win over Cal State San Marcos on Sept. 22.

At Independence High School: Competed in high school.

Personal: Son of Jorge and Bianca Orellana. Majoring in Kinesiology. Enjoys traveling, reading, sports and spending time with his family. Lists winning back-to-back CCAA Tournament championships and making it to the NCAA championship game with Cal State LA as his most exciting experiences in sports. Twin brother Jose is also on Cal State LA’s roster.
