2024: Had an outstanding season in his second year with the program. Appeared in 16 games with two starts. Had a 1-1 record with a 5.65 earned run average. Led the team with six saves. Had 36 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings. Pitched a season-high four innings in a start at Chaminade on Feb. 2. Picked up a three-inning save while allowing one hit and striking out six. Picked up another save with 2 2/3 scoreless innings in a 12-5 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on March 9. Allowed one hit and one run over 2 2/3 innings and matched a season high with six strikeouts to save a 5-4 win over Cal State East Bay on April 5. Picked up his lone victory in relief, pitching two innings in a 17-14 win at San Francisco State on April 27. Tossed two scoreless innings to record a save in a 5-4 win over Cal Poly Pomona on April 20. Didn’t allow a run in nine of his 16 appearances. Earned 2023-24 California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic honors and 2024 CCAA Spring Academic Honor Roll recognition. Also earned a 2023-24 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award.

2023: Was a key part of the pitching staff in his first year with the program. Appeared in 12 games with four starts. Had a 1-2 record and a 6.87 earned run average. Was fourth on the team in innings pitched with 38 and fourth in strikeouts with 23. Made his Cal State LA debut and picked up the win in an 8-4 victory over The Master’s on Feb. 3. Started and allowed only three hits and one run over four innings in the seven-inning game. Walked two and struck out five. Pitched a season-long six-innings twice. Allowed eight hits and two runs against Cal State San Bernardino on April 3 and allowed four hits and only one earned run in an 11-7 win against Chico State on May 5. Struck out a season-high six while allowing only five hits and two runs at Cal State Dominguez Hills on March 5. Pitched five or more innings four times. Earned 2022-23 CCAA All-Academic honors and 2023 CCAA Spring Academic Honor Roll recognition. Also earned a 2022-23 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award.

At Fullerton College: Earned second-team All-Orange Empire Conference honors. Was the team captain and won the team’s Mike Sgobba Memorial Baseball Award. Earned SoCal Pitcher of the Week honors. Led the team in strikeouts and innings pitched and was the team’s Cy Young Award winner. Appeared in 14 games with 12 starts in 2022. Had a 4-3 record with a 4.72 earned run average and pitched a team-high 68 2/3 innings.

At Gahr High School: Earned All-San Gabriel Valley honorable mention. Led the team in wins in his junior season and helped team to league championships in his junior and senior years. Was named the team’s Most Valuable Relief Pitcher and won the team’s Leadership Award.

Personal: Son of Victor and Monica Martinez. Majoring in urban learning and teaching. Enjoys golf, snowboarding and hanging out with friends. Lists getting the last out to clinch the league title in high school as his most exciting experience in sports. Notes his siblings are Daniel and Victoria.
