Biography

2010: Appeared in 22 games and started six times as a freshman. Hit .143 with four hits in 28 at bats. Scored five runs and drove in two. Picked up his first collegiate hit in his first start at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Feb. 12. Drove in runs at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Feb. 11 and at home against the Toros on March 27. Scored the game-tying run as a pinch runner during a six-run ninth inning in a 12-11 win over Sonoma State on April 25. Made 14 putouts without an error in the outfield. Also retired the only batter he faced as a pitcher against Cal State East Bay on May 1.
 
At Palisades Charter High School: Earned first-team All-Western League honors three times as an outfielder. Earned team awards as the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year as a junior and senior.
 
Personal: Son of Steve and Junko Whalen. Majoring in Kinesiology. Enjoys listening to music, stretching and thinking. Lists playing at home in the City Section playoffs as his most exciting experience in sports.
