Biography

2011: Had an outstanding season for the Golden Eagles and completed his four-year playing career. Appeared in 21 games and got one start. Played a total of 830 minutes. Had one goal and shared the team lead with eight assists. Was sixth on the team with 10 points. Scored the game-winning goal in the second half of a 4-2 win at UC San Diego on Oct. 14. Had two assists in a 3-0 win over San Francisco State on Oct. 21. Had an assist on a goal by Jason Swope in a 3-2 win over Seattle Pacific in the NCAA West Region championship match on Nov. 12. Made his one start of the season and played 38 minutes in the victory. For his career, appeared in 75 games with 31 starts. Played a total of 3,383 minutes. Had five goals and 17 assists for 27 points. Finished his career tied for No. 5 all-time in assists.

2010: Returned after two seasons away and played well for the Golden Eagles as a junior. Had one goal and two assists in 13 appearances. Made eight starts. Played a total of 569 minutes. Scored the first goal in a 3-1 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Oct. 20. Recorded an assist on the game-winning goal by Taylor Rivas in a 1-0 victory over San Francisco State on Sept. 17. Also had an assist in a 4-0 win over Cal State East Bay on Oct. 8.
 
2007: Had a second solid season with the Golden Eagles as a sophomore. Appeared in all 21 games and started two as a midfielder. Played a total of 931 minutes. Had two assists on the season. Had an assist in the second game of the season against Cal State San Marcos on Aug. 29 and had the other against Cal Poly Pomona on Sept. 14.
 
2006: Had an outstanding start to his Cal State L.A. career. Earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honorable mention. Appeared in and started 20 games for the Golden Eagles. Played a total of 1,053 minutes. Had three goals and five assists for a total of 11 points. Was fifth on the team in scoring. Scored a goal in his first game at Cal State L.A., a 4-4 tie with Notre Dame de Namur on Aug. 28. Had a goal and an assist in a 4-0 win at Cal Poly Pomona on Sept. 17. Scored his third goal of the year in a 2-1 victory over Chico State on Oct. 8.
At Birmingham High School: Competed in soccer, football and track and field. Was the team’s Freshman of the Year and later earned a team Player of the Year award. Team won a CIF city championship in his senior season.
Personal: Son of Israel Sandoval and Blanca Menendez. Majoring in business. Lists winning a gold medal in the AAU Junior Olympics as his most exciting experience in sports.
