Biography

2011: Returned to the Golden Eagles and contributed well in his final season with the program. Appeared in six games with five starts. Played a total of 515 minutes. Made 19 saves and recorded three shutouts. Had a 0.70 goals against average and a .826 saves percentage. Recorded shutouts in his first three starts of the season. Made three saves in a 6-0 win over Saint Martin's on Sept. 1, made one save in a 3-0 win over Colorado Mesa on Sept. 3 and made five saves in a 1-0 victory over UC San Diego on Sept. 9. Made a season-high six saves in a 1-1 tie at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sept. 11. For his career, appeared in 13 games and started nine times. Played a total of 984 minutes. Had a 6-2-1 record with four shutouts. Had a goals against average of 0.82 and a saves percentage of .757.

2010: Was not with the program.
 
2009: Saw considerable playing time late in the season for the Golden Eagles. Appeared in seven games overall and started the final four, including three postseason contests. Replaced the injured Tobias Hummel in the 60th minute at UC San Diego on Oct. 30 and started the rest of the season. Was in the nets for the Golden Eagles in a 1-0 loss to Sonoma State in the CCAA Tournament on Nov. 5. Made three saves in Cal State L.A.’s 5-3 win over Cal State San Bernardino in an NCAA playoff game on Nov. 13. Also made three saves in a 1-0 loss to Cal State Dominguez Hills on Nov. 15 in the NCAA West Region championship game. Had nine saves on the season and recorded a 3-2 record with one shutout. Had a goals against average of 0.96 and a saves percentage of .643.
 
2008: Did not compete for the Golden Eagles and was a redshirt.
 
At James Monroe High School: Earned All-League and All-City honors three years in a row. Was the Defensive Player of the Year all three years. Was named the Rookie of the Year as a freshman and did not allow a goal on the freshman team. Team advanced to state championships four times and finished second twice.
Personal: Son of Jesus and Priscilla Martinez. Majoring in television and film. Enjoys long walks on the beach at night and archery. Lists playing against the F.C. Barcelona Youth Academy soccer when he was 15 as his most exciting experience in sports.
