Cal State LA Athletics

2011: Had an outstanding season for the Golden Eagles in his second and final year with the program. Appeared in 23 games and started 18 times. Played a total of 1,849 minutes. Scored two goals for a total of four points. Earned second-team All-West Region honors from Daktronics. Was named to the California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Tournament team. Earned third-team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors and became the first academic All-American in the program's history. Scored the team's first goal of the season in a 6-0 win over Saint Martin's on Sept. 1. Also had the game-winning goal in the 86th minute of a 2-1 win over Cal State Stanislaus in a CCAA Tournament semi-final game on Nov. 4. Picked up the athletic department’s Academic Achievement Award (male) for 2011-12. For his career, appeared in 33 games and started 20 times. Played a total of 2,238 minutes. Had two goals and four points.

2010: Made significant contributions in his first season with the Golden Eagles. Appeared in 10 games and made two starts. Played a total of 389 minutes. Was in the Golden Eagles’ season-opening starting lineup against Biola on Sept. 2. Also started the season finale against Cal Poly Pomona on Oct. 31. Helped a defense that recorded seven shutouts during the season. Earned a CCAA  All-Academic Award.

At Taft College: Earned first-team All-Conference honors, was Midfielder of the Year and a team captain in 2009. Team finished second in the state, first in the Northern Region and seventh in the nation. Team was a quarterfinalist in 2008 and ranked 10^th in the nation. Earned All-Academic honors from the conference in 2008 and 2009 and was a National Student Athlete Award winner.

At Palmdale High School: Was a four-year varsity player. Team reached the 2006 CIF semi-finals and was the top seed entering the playoffs. Earned first-team All-Golden League and first-team All-Valley honors as a senior.

Personal: Son of Celia Arroyo. Majoring in business administration/civil engineering. Enjoys breeding Blue Nose pit bulls, being a barber and spending time with his mom. Lists being a part of truly great teams and being coached by great coaches as his most exciting experiences in sports.
