Cal State LA Athletics

2023: Was on Cal State LA’s track and field roster, but did not compete in any meets in his final year with the program. For his career, had best marks of 1:58.23 in the 800 meters and 4:11.05 in the 1,500.

2022: Competed for Cal State LA’s track and field team in the spring and had best times of 1:58.23 in the 800 meters and 4:11.05 in the 1,500. Had the team’s best 1,500 time and the second-best 800 time. Finished 12^th in the 800 at the California Collegiate Athletic Association championships. Ran for Cal State LA’s cross country team in the fall and was one of the team’s top runners. Competed in six events. Had a best 8,000-meter time of 26:42.3 at the John Elder Invitational at Cal State Fullerton.

2021: Competed for Cal State LA’s cross country team in the fall. Ran in six of the team’s seven meets. Had a best time of 26:53.8 over 8,000 meters at the UC Riverside Invitational. Finished 71^st in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships with a time of 27:45.3 over 8,000 meters.

At Mayfair High School: Competed in cross country, track and field and basketball. Was a CIF finalist and a two-time Suburban League champion. Was inducted into the Lakewood McDonald’s Hall of Fame. Graduated with High Honors. Was third all-time in Mayfair history in cross country.

Personal: Son of Jesus and Alicia Diaz. Majoring in electrical engineering. Enjoys going out with friends, basketball, paintball, riding trails and dunes on his ATV/motorcycle. Lists being a part of his high school’s history by leading the cross country team to its first CIF Finals appearance as his most exciting experience in sports.
