Cal State LA Athletics

2016: Had another strong season for the Golden Eagles in his second and final year with the program. Appeared in 44 games and started 40 times. Hit .286 with 46 hits in 161 at bats. Had one home run, 17 runs batted in and 16 runs scored. Had a career-high four hits in five at bats with a double and one RBI against Cal Poly Pomona on April 21. Went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and one run scored in a 5-3 win against Cal State Dominguez Hills on April 29. Hit a solo home run against Cal State San Bernardino on May 5. Had 12 multi-hit games, including four with three or more hits. For his career, appeared in 75 games with 69 starts. Hit .291 with 78 hits in 268 at bats. Had one home run, 31 RBI and 34 runs scored.

2015: Appeared in 31 games and made 29 starts for the Golden Eagles in his first year with the program. Hit .299 with 32 hits in 107 at bats. Drove in 14 runs and scored 18. Hit safely in 19 starts and had 10 multi-hit games. Had a season-high three hits in three games. Went 3-for-5 with two RBI at San Francisco State on Feb. 28. Went 3-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI against Cal State Monterey Bay on March 22 and was 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored against Cal State San Bernardino on April 25.

At Riverside Community College: Earned second-team All-Conference honors. Hit .273 with 30 hits in 110 at bats. Scored 13 runs and drove in 15.

At Oregon State: Appeared in three games as a freshman in 2013.|

At Arlington High School: Earned first-team All-League honors and was a Scholar-Athlete. Hit .519 as a senior and .418 as a junior.

Personal: Son of Paul and Yvonne Martinez. Majoring in Kinesiology. Enjoys pumping iron. Lists winning the 13-year-old Pony World Series with his dad as the coach as his most exciting experience in sports.
