Cal State LA Athletics

2016: Was one of the team's best hitters in his second and final year with the program. Appeared in 47 games and started all of them. Hit .294 with 58 hits in 197 at bats. Had 27 runs batted in and 24 runs scored. Was second on the team in RBI. Had a career-high four hits in five at bats with three doubles, two runs scored and one RBI against Cal Poly Pomona on April 22. Went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI in his final game at Cal State San Bernardino on May 7. Had 16 multi-hit games and had three or more hits six times. For his career, appeared in 84 games with 77 times. Hit .312 with 99 hits in 317 at bats. Had 49 runs scored and 45 RBI.  

2015: Won one of the team’s top hitters in his first season with the program. Earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honorable mention. Appeared in 37 games and started 30 times. Was second on the team with a .342 batting average. Drove in 18 runs and scored 25. Hit safely in 23 games and had 13 multi-hit performances. Had three hits and drove in a season-high four runs against British Columbia on Feb. 14. Also had three hits and scored a pair of runs against British Columbia on Feb. 13 and went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI against Chico State on April 3. Had three hits in a game five times.

At Allan Hancock Junior College: Was a two-time All-Conference gold glove award winner and earned Academic All-America honors as a sophomore. Made the Dean’s List in 2014. Hit .357 as a sophomore in 2014 with 51 hits in 143 at bats. Scored 39 runs and drove in 20. Also hit .265 with 27 hits in 102 at bats as a
freshman in 2013.

At Santa Ynez High School: Competed in baseball and football.

Personal: Son of Vic and Bonnie Welker. Majoring in Kinesiology. Enjoys spikeball. Lists throwing the game-winning touchdown pass to win a game against Bishop Diego with 20 seconds remaining in the game as his most exciting experience in sports.
