Cal State LA Athletics

2016: Had an outstanding season for the Golden Eagles in his one year with the program. Appeared in 10 games and started seven times. Went 4-1 with a 2.97 earned run average. Pitched a total of 55 2/3 innings with 13 walks and 39 strikeouts. Picked up his first win for the Golden Eagles after allowing there hits and one run over 4 2/3 innings of relief in a 4-3 win over Sonoma State on April 2. Won his final three starts for the Golden Eagles to help spark a late-season surge. Had his best start by going eight shutout innings in a 2-0 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills on April 28. Struck out a season-high seven in the contest. Scattered eight hits. Allowed only three earned runs over 7 2/3 innings to get the victory in a 6-4 win over Cal Poly Pomona on April 22. Walked two and struck out seven. Went eight strong innings to get the win in his final start, a 6-4 victory over Cal State San Bernardino. Allowed nine hits and two runs while walking three and striking out six. In his last four starts, allowed only seven earned runs over 31 1/3 innings with eight walks and 23 strikeouts.

At Cal State San Bernardino: Appeared in a team-high 23 games for the Coyotes in 2015. Went 1-2 with a 7.96 earned average in 48 1/3 innings. Earned the win in a 12-5 victory over San Francisco State. Allowed only six extra-base hits all season.

At Mt. San Antonio College: Helped Mounties win their first South Coast Conference title.

At Cajon High School: Played on the varsity team for two seasons. Earned first-team All-San Bernardino County honors as an outfielder and second-team San Andrea League honors. Also lettered for the school’s cross country team.

Personal: Son of Alberto and Maria Diaz. Majoring in electrical engineering. Enjoys soccer, guitar and bowling.
