Biography

2009: Had a successful freshman season with the Golden Eagles. Appeared in 20 of the team’s 23 games and made a meaningful impact on the team. Took a total of 16 shots, including seven on goal. Helped a defense that was one of the nation’s best. Team allowed only 17 goals in the 20 games he played in and allowed one or fewer goals in 17 contests, including eight shutouts. Had a pair of shots on goal in NCAA playoff game against Cal State San Bernardino on Nov. 13.
 
At Hilltop High School: Was a four-year starter on varsity and a senior captain. Was named the Rookie of the Year as a freshman and picked up the Iron-man Award as a sophomore. Earned first-team All-League honors three times. Competed in soccer, swimming and diving and cross country.
 
Personal: Son of Victor and Christine Vargas. Is an undeclared major. Enjoys skating, playing music, signing his name, eating, going to the beach and hiking. Lists scoring a goal in his first CIF game as a freshman in high school as his most exciting experience in sports.
