2009: Had a third sensational season with the Golden Eagles and completed his outstanding three-year career with the program. Appeared and started in 19 games and played a total of 1,640 minutes. Allowed 15 goals and had a goals against average of 0.82. Made 38 saves and had a saves percentage of .717. Had a 15-2-1 record with five shutouts. Made two saves in a 1-0 win at Cal State Monterey Bay for his first shutout of the season. Made four saves in a 2-0 win at San Francisco State on Sept. 20 and four saves in a 1-0 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sept. 23. Made two saves in a 2-0 win over Cal State Stanislaus on Sept. 27 and two saves in a 1-0 win over UC San Diego on Oct. 18. Had a season-high five saves in a 3-2 win over Cal State San Bernardino on Sept. 13 and matched that total in a 2-1 win over Chico State on Sept. 25. For his career, appeared in 48 games with 47 starts. Played a total of 4,329 minutes. Allowed 44 goals and had a goals against average of 0.91. Made saves and had a saves percentage of .767.

2008: Had a second outstanding season with the Golden Eagles. Appeared in 13 matches and started 12 times. Made 49 saves and had a save percentage of .790. Had a goals against average of 0.97. Recorded four shutouts, all in consecutive starts. Had a career-high 10 saves in the Golden Eagles’ important 1-0 win over Chico State on Oct. 3. Got his first shutout of the season by making four saves in a 1-0 win over UC San Diego on Sept. 19. Followed that up with six saves in a 2-0 victory at Humboldt State on Sept. 26. After the win over Chico State, made three saves in a 0-0 tie over 110 minutes at San Francisco State on Oct. 12. Did not allow a goal over a stretch of 505 minutes, 20 seconds from Sept. 12 until Oct. 19. Came up huge for the Golden Eagles in the NCAA Division II playoff opener against Sonoma State. Made a tremendous save in the final minute of the second overtime to send the game into a shootout. Made an outstanding stop on Sonoma State’s first shooter and then converted on the Golden Eagles’ first kick in a 5-4 shootout win that advanced Cal State L.A. to the regional championship game. Picked up the athletic department’s Academic Achievement Award (male) for 2008-09 and earned California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic honors.

2007: Made an immediate impact in his first season at Cal State L.A. Appeared in 16 matches and started 16 times. Made 58 saves and had a save percentage of .784. Had a goals against average of 0.97. Recorded five shutouts. Recorded four saves in his Golden Eagle debut and posted a shutout in a 5-0 win over San Marcos on Aug. 23. Made five saves in a 0-0 tie at Cal Baptist on Sept. 1 and recorded three saves in a 4-0 shutout of Cal Poly Pomona on Sept. 14. Came back with four saves in a 2-0 win over Cal State San Bernardino on Sept. 16 and got his final shutout with six saves in a 2-0 win at Cal State Stanislaus. Also made six saves in a 1-1 tie with Seattle Pacific on Sept. 11. Earned CCAA All-Academic honors.

At Clavius Gymnasium Bamberg: Competed in soccer.

Personal: Son of Detlef and Elisabeth Hummel. Majoring in mechanical engineering. Enjoys friends, movies and traveling. Lists advancing past Sonoma State on penalty kicks in the NCAA playoffs in 2008 as his most exciting experience in sports.
