Biography

2009: Had an outstanding season with the Golden Eagles in his third and final year with the program. Appeared and started in all 23 games. Played a total of 1,266 minutes. Had five goals and six assists for 16 points. Was second on the team in assists and fourth on the team in scoring. Had a goal and an assist in a season-opening 2-1 win over Hawaii-Hilo on Aug. 29. Had the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Chico State on Sept. 25 and had the game-winning goal in a 3-1 win at Cal State San Bernardino on Oct. 2. Had a goal and two assists in a 6-1 win over Western Washington and had the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win at Cal State East Bay on Nov. 1. Had a pair of assist in a 5-3 win over Cal State San Bernardino in a first-round NCAA playoff game on Nov. 13. For his career, appeared in 64 games and started 42 times. Played a total of 3,286 minutes. Had nine goals and 14 assists for 32 points.

2008: Had a sensational second season with the Golden Eagles and was the team’s leading scorer. Appeared in 21 games with two starts. Played a total of 1,063 minutes. Had four goals and a team-high seven assists for a team-leading 15 points. Earned NSCAA All-West Region second-team honors and was named to the All-California Collegiate Athletic Association second team. Scored the first goal of his Cal State L.A. and made it a game-winner in a 1-0 win at Cal Poly Pomona on Sept. 14. Followed that up with the lone goal of a 1-0 win against UC San Diego on Sept. 19. Notched a goal and two assists for a career high four points in a 7-1 victory over Cal State Stanislaus on Oct. 5. Scored his final goal of the season in a 4-0 win over Cal State San Bernardino on Oct. 26. Made the Golden Eagles’ third kick in a 5-4 shootout triumph over Sonoma State in the NCAA Division II playoff opener on Nov. 13 that advanced Cal State L.A. into the regional championship game. Earned CCAA All-Academic honors.
 
2007: Made a big impact for the Golden Eagles in his first season with the program. Appeared in 20 games and started 17 times. Played a total of 957 minutes. Picked up the first assist of his Cal State L.A. career when he helped on Kyle Hewitt’s game-winning goal with eight seconds remaining in regulation at Chico State on Sept. 30.
 
At University of Akron: Appeared in 18 games as a freshman in 2005 and recorded one goal and five assists for seven points. First career goal came in a 12-2 win over Cleveland State on Sept. 9, 2005. Assisted on the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Loyola College on Sept. 17. Team won the Mid-American Conference championship and was the Westfield Cup Champion.
At Danielson VGS: Competed for a team that won a national championship in 2002.
Personal: Son of Bjorn and Allison Gaustad. Majoring in international business. Enjoys fishing, reading, swimming and movies. Lists advancing past Sonoma State on penalty kicks in the 2008 NCAA playoffs and winning the national championship in Norway in 2002 as his most exciting experiences in sports.
