Cal State LA Athletics

2024: Had a second outstanding season in his second and final year with the program. Earned Fall-West Region honors for a second time in the 4x100 relay and had the team’s top mark in the long jump. Finished fifth in the long jump at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships. Also finished 12^th in the 100 and 12^th in the 200. Had best marks of 10.86 in the 100, 22.02 in the 200 and 23-5.25 in the long jump. For his career, had best marks of 10.81 in the 100, 21.62 in the 200 and 23-8.75 in the long jump.

2023: Had an outstanding season in his first year with the program. Earned All-West Region honors in the 4x100 relay and was part of a CCAA champion 4x100 relay team. Also finished third in the long jump to earn All-Conference honors. Had best marks of 10.81 in the 100, 21.62 in the 200 and 23-8.75 in the long jump. An outstanding student as well, made the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s All-Academic Team. Also earned 2022-23 CCAA All-Academic honors and 2023 CCAA Spring Honor Roll recognition. Also received a 2022-23 D2 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award.

At American River Junior College: Was part of a Big 8 Conference 4x400 relay championship team and finished third in the 100 in 2013. Team won Big 8 Conference and NorCal Community College championships as well. Finished in the top five in the long jump at the state meet. Team also won a conference championship in 2015.

At Livermore High School Was the boys long jump NCS Tri-Valley champion and EBAL long jump champion in 2010. Was on the school’s top-five all-time list in that event. Was the Bay Valley Athletic League 200-meter champion in 2011. Was the North Section Tri-Valley 200-meter champion at DVHS in 2011 and the Sac Meet of Champions long jump champion in 2012.

Personal: Son of Gaylon and Diana Kerr. Majoring in liberal studies with a minor in psychology. Enjoys running and being with family, although says he also likes his own space for his sanity. Lists breaking the school record in the long jump as his most exciting experience in sports. Notes the jump of 24-5 placed him in the top three in the league and top three in nation. Is a member of Cal State LA’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
