Cal State LA Athletics

2024: Had a sensational season for the Golden Eagles in his first year with the program. Won two California Collegiate Athletic Association championships as part of Cal State LA’s 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. Also earned all-conference honors after finishing second in the 200. Earned All-West Region honors as part of the 4x100 relay team. Had best marks of 10.86 in the 100, 20.97 in the 200 and 49.19 in the 400. His 200 time is tied for eighth on Cal State LA’s all-time list. Earned a 2023-24 D2 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award and was part of the 2023-24 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic team. Also earned CCAA 2023-24 All-Academic and 2024 CCAA Spring Honor Roll recognition.

At Mt. San Antonio College: Earned CCCAA All-America honors. Finished second in the 400 meters at the CCCAA State Championships with a time of 47.52 and fourth in the 200 with a time of 21.33.

At Serrano High School: Competed in football, soccer and track and field.

Personal: Son of Luis Chavez. Majoring in Kinesiology. Enjoys golf. Lists finishing runner-up in the 400 meters at the CCCAA State meet as his most exciting experience in sports. Notes he likes going to the beach.
