Biography

2023: Was on Cal State LA’s track and field roster, but did not compete in any meets in her final year with the program. For her career, had best marks of 11.61 in the 100 and 24.17 in the 200 on outdoor track and 7.64 in the 60 and 25.42 in the 200 in indoor. Earned first-team All-America honors after finishing fifth in the 100 and second-team honors in indoor in the 60 after finishing 10th in 2019. Was the program’s Billie Jean King Award winner in 2018-19 as the top female athlete. Finished her career No. 8 8 all-time in the 100 in outdoor track and No. 4 in the 60 and No. 5 in the 200 in indoor track. Won a CCAA championship in the 100 and earned three All-CCAA awards.
 
2022: Was the team’s top sprinter once again and had an inspiring season that started late due to injury. Earned second-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors in the 100 with a time of 12.00 at the CCAA Championships. Also earned second-team All-CCAA honors as part of the 4x100 relay team that placed second at the conference championships with a season’s best time of 47.26.

2021: Was on the roster, but team did not compete due to COVID-19.
 
2020: Was off to strong start for the Golden Eagles before the outdoor season was halted after three meets. Had a best mark of 11.61 in the 100 meters and had already posted a provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Championships, which were canceled. Time was No. 2 in the nation when the season ended. Was part of the 4x100 relay team that had a best mark of 47.84. That mark was No. 10 in the nation when the season ended. Earned CCAA “All-Star” recognition. Was named the CCAA Track Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 24-March 1 for her performance at the Cal State LA Invitational. Won the 100 meters and had a blistering first leg on the winning 4x100 relay team. Had a second strong indoor season for the Golden Eagles. Had best times of 7.64 in the 60 and 25.42 in the 200. Posted a provisional qualifying mark in the 60. Had the team’s best times in the 60 and 200.
 
2019: Earned the department's 2018-19 Billie Jean King Award as Cal State L.A.'s top female athlete.. Won a CCAA championship in the 100 meters and earned All-America honors in both outdoor and indoor track and field. Was named the CCAA Newcomer of the Year. Finished fifth in the nation in the 100 to earn first-team All-America honors. Had a best time of 11.63 in the 100 and is now No. 8 all-time at Cal State LA. Was also fourth in the conference in the 200 and had a best time of 24.17. Teamed up with J’Liyah Miles, Jayla Miles and Ryan Greene to finish second in the 4x100 at the conference meet. Also earned second-team All-America honors in indoor track after placing 10th overall in the 60 meters in 7.55. Best time of 7.47 in the 60 places her fourth all-time at Cal State LA. Best time of 25.38 in the 200 places her fifth.

At Ventura College: Was the school’s Women’s Athlete of the Year and the Ventura County Star Athlete of the Year in 2018. Set a school record with a time of 11.75 in the 100 meters in 2018 and had a best time of 24.37 in the 200. Won a CCCAA State Championship in 2018.

At Rio Mesa High School: Was a state champion in 2010 and the team Most Valuable Player from 2008-10. Won the state title in the 100 as a sophomore with a time of 11.54. Team won a CIF championship in 2009. Also won a CIF title in the 100. Was the Ventura County Athlete of the Year in 2010 and Stars Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year in 2009.

Personal: Daughter of Lawrence Droughn and Monika Akuna. Earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology and is pursuing her Master’s degree. Enjoys reading, writing and doing makeup. Lists winning state as a sophomore in high school, traveling to the Simplot Games in Illinois and participating in the Run for the Dream indoor meet in 2008 as her most exciting experience in sports. Notes she is the mom of two children, Aniyah and Jaidyn.
