Cal State L.A., ranked 16th in the nation, clinched a spot in the CCAA Championship Tournament with the victory. The Golden Eagles have three conference matches remaining and currently lead second-place Sonoma State by six points.

Humboldt State (6-8, 1-7 CCAA) got six saves from goalkeeper Amber Woolcock and Colette Behen had four shots.

Cal State L.A. took a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute when Lammers scored her second goal in two games and her third of the season. She received a pass from Norie Pablo and lofted a shot over the head of Woolcock.

The Golden Eagles made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute when Espinoza connected on a penalty kick. She then added her second goal of the game and seventh of the season in the 41st minute to give the Golden Eagles a 3-0 halftime lead.
