Summary

Biography

2022: Had another solid season for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Appeared in 26 games with 24 starts at catcher. Hit .213 with 20 hits in 94 at bats. Scored 11 runs and drove in nine. Matched a career-high with three RBI in a 3-for-5 performance against Cal Poly Pomona on April 30. Hit safely in 15 games and had four multi-hit games. For his career, appeared in 125 games with 112 starts. Hit .239 with 89 hits in 372 at bats. Drove in 46 runs and scored 43.

2021: Earned 2020-21 California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic honors. Was on the roster, but team did not compete due to COVID-19.

2020: Had a third strong season with the Golden Eagles before the season was halted. Appeared in 11 games and started 10 times. Hit .207 with six hits in 39 at bats. Had six doubles, one triple, four runs batted in and two runs scored. Also made a pitching appearance and retired the only two batters he faced with one strikeout. Drove in all three runs in a 3-1 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Feb. 14. Had a two-run double and sacrifice fly in the victory. Went 2-for-2 with a run scored and one RBI in an 8-4 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Feb. 15. Did not commit an error behind the plate in 90 chances and threw out three baserunners in seven attempts.

2019: Had a sensational sophomore season with the Golden Eagles and earned All-CCAA honorable mention. Appeared in 39 games and started 36 times. Hit .286 with 36 hits in 127 at bats. Scored 17 runs and drove in 16. Had 13 multi-hit games. Had a .986 fielding percentage and only made four errors. Threw out 10 baserunners. Had two hits and drove in a career-high three runs against San Francisco State on March 29. Had two RBI in four other games. Had a season-high two hits in 13 times.
 
2018: Had an outstanding first season with the Golden Eagles and was one of the top freshmen in the CCAA. Appeared in 49 games and started 42 times. Hit .220 with 27 hits in 123 at bats. Scored 13 runs. Also drew 10 walks. Had four multi-hit games, including a 2-for-4 performance with one run scored and two RBI against Cal Poly Pomona in a CCAA Tournament game on May 11. Had two multi-hit games in his last five starts of the season. Drove in a pair of runs against Cal State Monterey Bay on March 3, against UC San Diego on April 28 and against Cal Poly Pomona on May 11. Was outstanding defensively with only five errors in 308 chances. Threw out 16 baserunners trying to steal.
 
At Los Altos High School: Earned All-San Gabriel Valley, All-Area first team and All-League first-team honors. Was named the Best Defensive Player. Participated in the San Gabriel Valley All-Star game as a junior and senior.
 
Personal: Son of Manuel and Matilda Garcia. Earned his degree in sociology and is pursuing his Master’s degree at Cal State LA. Enjoys horseback riding, going to concerts and music festivals, playing with his four dogs and going to Dodger games. Lists going to the CCAA Tournament in Stockton and being able to play on the same team as his brother, Diego, as his most exciting experiences in sports.
