Cal State LA Athletics

2022: Had a sensational season in his one year with the program. Was one of just two players to start all 50 games for the Golden Eagles. Hit .348 with six home runs, 45 runs scored and 40 runs batted in. Led the team in home runs, RBI, doubles (16) and slugging percentage (.539) and was second in batting average, second in runs scored, second in on-base percentage (.480) and third in hits with 66. Hit safely in 36 games and had 18 multi-hit games. Went 4-for-6 with a season-high six RBI in a win at Cal State San Marcos on March 6. Went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI against Cal State East Bay on April 16. Went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a season-high four RBI in a win against Cal State East Bay on April 15. Was 9-for-16 in the series with five runs scored and seven RBI. An outstanding student as well, earned 2022 California Collegiate Athletic Association Spring Academic Honor Roll recognition.

At Cal State Bakersfield: Started 13 games for the Division I program before the season was halted. Hit .205 with a .308 on-base percentage. Made 32 starts and played in 40 games in 2019. Split time between shortstop and second base. Hit .226 and was fifth on the team in on-base percentage at .388. Earned Academic All-Western Athletic Conference honors. Played summer ball with the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in the Cape Cod Baseball League.

At LA Pierce College: Earned All-Western State South Conference honors twice and earned All-Southern California honors as a sophomore. Also received a Gold Glove Award and was a team captain. Earned Academic All-State honors as well.

At Bishop Alemany High School: Competed in baseball and basketball. Earned Mission League All-Academic Team honors in both sports. Earned second-team All-Mission League honors in baseball. Was on a league championship basketball team and was the Sierra Canyon Super Showcase Player of the Game in 2016.

Personal: Son of Bill and Eden Picketts. Earned his degree in Kinesiology at Cal State Bakersfield and is pursuing his Master’s degree at Cal State LA. Enjoys basketball, health and wellness and fitness. Lists playing in the Cape Cod Baseball League and hitting two home runs in a wild card playoff game with LA Pierce College as his most exciting experiences in sports. Is pursuing a Master’s degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in pedagogy and adapted physical education. Is set to play for the Philippines National Baseball Team in the World Baseball Classic Trials in 2022.
