Cal State LA Athletics

2008: Had another outstanding season for the Golden Eagles and completed his four-year career with the program. Started all 22 games for the Golden Eagles and played a total of 1,535 minutes. Had two goals and three assists for seven points. Was seventh on the team in scoring. Earned first-team All-West Region honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and second-team All-West Region honors from Daktronics. Earned first-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors for a second straight season. Converted on a penalty kick in a 2-1 win over Cal Poly Pomona on Oct. 24 and scored on a penalty kick in a 1-1 tie with Sonoma State in a first-round NCAA playoff game. Was one of two Cal State L.A. recipients of the 2008-09 Dr. Hal Charnofsky Memorial Award from the CCAA for academic and athletic accomplishments. For his career, appeared in 84 games and started all of them. Played a total of 5,235 minutes. Had three goals and 16 assists for 22 points. Finished his career tied for ninth on Cal State LA's all-time list for assists.

2007: Enjoyed his best season with the Golden Eagles and was named the team’s Most Valuable Player. Earned first-team All-CCAA honors and second-team NSCAA All-Far West Region honors. Started all 21 games and had a team-high seven assists. Played a total of 1,851 minutes. Tied a program record with three assists in a 5-1 win over Cal State San Marcos on Aug. 29. Also picked up assists against Saint Martin’s on Aug. 23, at Chico State on Sept. 30, against Grand Canyon on Oct. 7 and against Cal State Dominguez Hills on Oct. 14.

2006: Had a second strong season for the Golden Eagles that was capped by being named to the NCAA Division II All-Far West Regional Tournament team. Started all 23 games for Cal State L.A. and played a total of 1,849 minutes. Had two assists. Had one assist in the Golden Eagles’ 2-0 win over UC San Diego on Sept. 24 and had an assist in a 3-0 victory at Cal State Monterey Bay on Oct. 1. Received the team award as the Inspirational Player of the Year.
 

2005: Made a significant impact to the program as a freshman. Earned All-CCAA honorable mention. Started all 18 games for Cal State L.A. and finished with one goal and four assists for a total of six points. Scored the first goal of his Cal State L.A. career in a 2-0 win over Grand Canyon on Sept. 9. Scored the first point of his Golden Eagle career when he had an assist in a 5-0 win over Hope International on Aug. 31. Had assists in back-to-back games at Chico State on Sept. 23 and at Cal State Stanislaus on Sept. 25. Also had an assist in a 2-0 win over Cal Poly Pomona on Oct. 22.
 

At Salesian High School: Was the league Most Valuable Player and earned first-team All-CIF and first-team All-League honors as a senior. Team won the CIF Championship. Also earned first-team All-League and third-team All-CIF honors as a junior and was the team Most Valuable Player as a sophomore.

Personal: Son of Rosario Franco. Majoring in Kinesiology. Enjoys poker and soccer. Lists being part of a college team that made it to the Sweet 16 as his most exciting experience in sports.
