Cal State LA Athletics

2023: Was limited to just three games for the Golden Eagles in his second and final year with the program. Played a total of 34 minutes. Made his season debut and played 16 minutes in a 1-0 win over Westmont on Sept. 6. Played 15 minutes in a 3-1 win over Point Loma on Sept. 16 in his final game before missing the rest of the season with injury. For his career, appeared in 23 games with four starts. Played a total of 744 minutes. Had two goals and four assists for eight points.

2022: Made significant contributions for the Golden Eagles in his first year with the program. Appeared in all 20 games and made four starts. Played a total of 710 minutes. Had two goals and four assists for eight points. Was tied for third on the team in assists and tied for eighth in points. Had a sensational Cal State LA debut and had a goal and an assist in 37 minutes of a 6-0 win over Saint Martin’s on Aug. 25. Gave the Golden Eagles a 4-0 lead with a goal in the 43^rd minute. Had the assist on a goal by Bryan Ortega in the 47^th minute. Scored his second goal to give Cal State LA a 1-0 lead in the 43^rd minute of a 3-1 win at Azusa Pacific on Sept. 10. Assisted on a game-tying goal by Daniel Garcia in California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament championship match win over Cal State Dominguez Hills. Had an assist on a goal by Tommaso Belli in a 2-0 win at Cal State San Marcos on Oct. 6 and picked up an assist in the next game on a game-opening goal by Aidan Wait in a 2-2 tie against Cal State San Bernardino on Oct. 9. Played a season-high 56 minutes in a 1-0 win at Simon Fraser on Aug. 27.

At Chico State: Earned second-team All-West Region and second-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors and was the conference’s Newcomer of the Year in 2019. Led the Wildcats in goals with 10 and points with 24. Played in 35 games in his two seasons with the Wildcats and had 17 goals and four assists for 38 points.

At La Costa Canyon High School: Earned three varsity letters. Helped the Mavericks to three Avacado West League titles and a 2016 CIF San Diego-Section championship.

Personal: Son of Wes and Christine Chong. Majoring in business finance. Enjoys the beach and food. Lists winning the CCAA Tournament championship as his most exciting experience in sports. Notes he loves to lift.
