Biography

2023: Had another outstanding season for the Golden Eagles in his third and final year with the program. Started all 22 games for the Golden Eagles and was second on the team with 1,464 minutes played. Had one goal and four assists for six points. Was tied for third in assists. Earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honorable mention. His lone goal of the season was a big one, a second-half strike that lifted the Golden Eagles to a 1-0 win over Point Loma in an NCAA Super Region 4 second-round game at University Stadium on Nov. 18. Had an assist on a goal by Oliver Diaz in a 1-0 win over Cal Poly Pomona in an NCAA Super Region 4 semifinal game at Midwestern State. Picked up his first assist of the season on an early goal from Bryan Ortega in a 3-2 win over Stanislaus State on Oct. 22. Also got an assist on a goal by Carson Nguyen in a 2-0 win over Cal State San Marcos in a CCAA Tournament semifinal game on Nov. 10. Earned CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll recognition. For his career, appeared in 62 games with 52 starts and played a total of 3,498 minutes. Scored three goals, including the game-winner in Cal State LA’s 1-0 win over Charleston in the 2021 NCAA Championship game. Also had eight assists and finished with 14 points.

2022: Had a second strong season for the Golden Eagles in his second year with the program. Appeared in 17 games with 10 starts. Played a total of 788 minutes. Had three assists and three points.  Had two assists in the first three games of the season. Registered an assist on Jeppe Paulsen’s second-half goal in a 1-0 win at Simon Fraser Aug. 27. Also had an assist on a second-half goal by Alex Rodriguez in a 2-0 win against Concordia on Sept. 3. Picked up his final assist on a goal by Lucas Rosales in NCAA playoff game against Northwest Nazarene on Nov. 12. Earned 2022 CCAA Academic Honor Roll recognition.

2021: Had an outstanding season for the national champions in his first year with the program and scored the biggest goal in program history in a 1-0 win over Charleston on Dec. 11 in the national championship game. Was named the NCAA Championships’ Offensive Most Valuable Player. Appeared in all 23 games for the Golden Eagles with 20 starts. Had two goals and one assist for five points. Played a total of 1,246 minutes. Made his Cal State LA debut and played 29 minutes against Simon Fraser on Sept. 5 and got his first start in a 2-0 win at Biola on Sept. 18. Started the final 20 games of the season for Cal State LA. Got his first goal in a 3-0 win over Humboldt State on Oct. 31. Got his first assist on a goal by David Elizaga in a 3-1 win at San Francisco State on Oct. 1. Earned CCAA 2021-22 All-Academic Honors and received 2021 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll recognition.

At Presbyterian College: Made 20 appearances with 18 starts in 2019.

At Loerenskog Videreyiende: Played for Lillestroem SK U19 Elite in the Norwegian Premier League. Was a two-time U19 National Championship Tournament quarterfinalist and the 2018 Norway Cup winners. Team finished in the top four of the national series in 2016. Was selected for the Akershus State team from 2014-16.

Personal: Son of Roger and Lise Johansen. Majoring in computer science. Enjoys soccer, hiking, photography and volleyball. Lists scoring the game-winning goal in the NCAA Championship Game for Cal State LA and being at the same talent camp as Erling Haaland in 2015 as his most exciting experiences in sports.
