Cal State LA Athletics

2022: Was a big part of Cal State LA’s bullpen once again in his final year with the program. Appeared in 15 games with two starts and had a 0-2 record with a 7.26 earned run average. Tossed a career-high 31 innings and had 25 walks with 33 strikeouts. Made his first career start and tossed three scoreless innings against Montana State Billings on Feb. 5. Allowed only one hit while walking one and striking out four. Also started at Biola on Feb. 19 and went one inning while allowing a pair of runs. Picked up a career-high five strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings of relief against Cal State East Bay on April 15. Pitched a career-high four innings against Cal Poly Pomona on April 29. For his career, appeared in 28 games with two starts. Had a 1-2 record with an 8.72 earned run average. Pitched a total of 42 1/3 innings with 43 walks and 42 strikeouts.
 
2021: Was on the roster, but team did not compete due to COVID-19.
 
2020: Showed impressive improvement in his second year with the program before the season was halted. Had a 1-0 record with a 12.96 earned run average. Made seven appearances, all in relief. Picked up his first collegiate win after tossing two scoreless innings in a 9-7 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Feb. 16. Allowed only one hit and worked around four walks. Made his season debut and struck out two in two innings of relief in an 8-2 win over Northwest Nazarene on Feb. 7. Also tossed a scoreless inning of relief and struck out one at Cal Poly Pomona on Feb. 21.
 
2019: Made his Cal State LA debut and appeared in six games in relief and pitched a total of three innings. Tossed a scoreless inning and struck out two in his first college game against Colorado Mesa on Feb. 9. Did not allow a run in three of his six outings. Had a 0-0 record with a 12.00 earned run average. Walked six and struck out four.

At Alhambra High School: Was named the Almont League Pitcher of the Year and earned first-team All-League honors. Earned first-team All-CIF honors in 2018. Also earned the team’s Pitcher of the Year Award and the school’s Scholar-Athlete Award. Received the All-CIF Division 4 Team Award. Competed in baseball and football.

Personal: Son of Jose and Daisy Garcia. Majoring in criminal justice. Enjoys long walks on the beach and cutting hair. Lists throwing a no-hitter in a conference playoff game in high school as his most exciting experience in sports. Notes he is an older brother to six younger siblings.
