Biography

2015: Competed well again for the Golden Eagles in her fourth and final year with the program. Had best marks of 2:31.71 in the 800 meters, 5:21.08 in the 1,500 and 21:14.06 in the 5,000. Finished 35th in the 1,500 at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships. For her career, had best marks of 2:27.25 in the 800, 5:00..71 in the 1,500 and 21:14.06 in the 5,000.

2014: Set new personal best times of 2:27.25 in the 800 and 5:00.71 in the 1,500 in her third season of outdoor track and field. Earned a California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic Award for a third straight year. Also completed her eligibility in cross country in the fall. Competed in five races for the Golden Eagles. Placed 88th in the CCAA Championships with a time of 27:03.1 over 6,000 meters. Had a best 5,000-meter course time of 23:07.8 at the UC Irvine Invitational.

2013: Had best times of 2:28.57 in the 800 meters and 5:12.95 in the 1,500 in her second season of outdoor track and field. Earned a CCAA All-Academic Award for a second straight year. Competed well for the Golden Eagle cross country team for a third season in the fall. Was a consistent runner in the team’s top-five. Finished 70th at the CCAA Championships with a time of 24:46.2 over 6,000 meters and was 131st at the NCAA West Regionals with a time of 25:16.8.

2012: Ran well for the Golden Eagles in her first year with the track and field program. Had best times of 2:40.03 in the 800 meters and 5:44.94 in the 1,500. Earned a CCAA All-Academic Award. Ran for a second season with the Golden Eagle cross country team in the fall. Was the team’s No. 6 runner at the CCAA Championships and finished 71st in 24:27.4 over a 6,000-meter course. Was the team’s No. 7 runner at the West Regionals and finished 160th in 27:34.0.

2011: Competed in two races for Cal State L.A.’s cross country team in the fall. Had a best time of 20:42.3 over 5,000 meters at the UC Riverside Invitational on Sept. 17. Had a best time of 25:46.4 over 6,000 meters at the Cal State Northridge Invitational on Oct. 15.

At Gabrielino High School: Was the Co-Most Valuable Runner on the cross country team and earned second-team All-League honors. Was the team Most Valuable Player in soccer and earned first-team All-League honors. Was the team MVP in track and field and took third place in the league with a time of 2:24. Received the Marine Corps Student-Athlete Award. Competed in cross country, track and field and soccer in high school.

Personal: Daughter of Estriberto and Horalia Gamboa. Majoring in psychology. Enjoys hanging out with friends, discovering new music and shopping. Lists breaking the school record in the 800 and earning first-team All-League honors in soccer as her most exciting experiences in sports.
