POMONA -- Cal State L.A.'s baseball team came up empty for a second straight day against Cal Poly Pomona and officially fell out of the race for the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championship Tournament.
The Golden Eagles, who were blanked on three hits on Thursday, were shut out on five hits on Friday in a 12-0 loss to the Broncos at Scolinos Field. Cal State L.A. (25-23, 19-19 CCAA) has lost five of its last six games and has been shut out in three of its last four.
Cliff Quick had two hits for the Golden Eagles.

Kamakani Usui pitched the first three innings for the Golden Eagles and surrendered five runs, four of them earned. He allowed six hits and also walked five.
Elliott Russell pitched a scoreless inning of relief for the Golden Eagles, while
Adan Cabrales didn't allow a run over the final two innings. He walked two and struck out three.
Travis Taijeron hit a first-inning home run for Cal Poly Pomona (30-17, 22-16 CCAA) for the second straight day. He wound up with three hits and three RBI. Stephen Gonzalez had two hits and two RBI, while Mike Santora, Ryan Goodman and Jordan Whitman scored two runs each.
Cal Poly Pomona led 3-0 after one inning, 5-0 after three innings and broke the game wide open with five runs in the seventh.
The Broncos collected 13 hits in the game, which was more than enough support for Kevin Bossan, who went 7 2/3 innings and picked up his ninth win of the season. He walked one and struck out five.
Cal State L.A. will conclude its season on Saturday with a home doubleheader against Cal Poly Pomona at Reeder Field beginning at 11 a.m. The Golden Eagles will also honor seniors
