Manuel Earns D2CCA All-West Region Honors

LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's Jonathan Manuel became the third Cal State LA baseball player to earn All-West Region honors.

Manuel earned second-team All-Region honors on Monday when the D2 Conference Commissioner's Association's team was announced by the organization. Manuel earned second-team honors at the utility-pitcher position.

The team was selected by the region's sports information directors.

Manuel led the Golden Eagles in batting average and pitching victories and helped the Golden Eagles reach the California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament for the second straight season.

Manuel had a .381 batting average for the Golden Eagles with five home runs and 20 runs batted in. He also scored 20 runs and led the team with a .463 on-base percentage.

Zech Samayoa of Cal State San Marcos was named the West Region Player of the Year and Jordan Talley of Northwest Nazarene was named the Pitcher of the Year.

This is the second of three All-Region teams to be announced. Last week, Cesar Chavez and Omar Gonzalez earned second-team honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America.
