Biography

2025: Had a second tremendous season for the Golden Eagles in her final year with the program. Won two more California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships in the long jump and triple jump and earned two more All-America awards and two more All-West Region awards in outdoor track. Was named the CCAA Field Athlete of the Meet for a second straight season. Earned first-team All-America honors after finishing sixth in the long jump and eighth in the triple jump. Had best marks of 12.37 in the 100, 20-10 in the long jump and 42-0.50 in the triple jump. Also had a second outstanding season in indoor track and field. Earned first-team All-America honors after placing fifth in the triple jump. Had best marks of 19-2 in the long jump and 41-3.75 in the triple jump. Shared Cal State LA’s Billie Jean King Award for best female athlete for a second straight year. For her career, earned a total of seven All-America awards (four in outdoor track, three in indoor), including one national championship in the indoor triple jump and a second-place finish in the indoor long jump and a second-place finish in the outdoor long jump. Had best marks of 12.23 in the 100, 21-3.25 in the long jump and 42-3.25 in the triple jump in outdoor track and 7.92 in the 60, 20-8 in the long jump and 43-3.25 in the triple jump in indoor track. Finished her career with school records in the indoor long jump and triple jump and was No. 2 in the triple jump and No. 3 in the long jump in outdoor track.

2024: Had a historic season for the Golden Eagles in her first year with the program. Won a national championship and earned a second-place national finish in indoor track and earned a second-place finish and two more All-America finishes in outdoor track. Set new program records in the long jump and triple jump in indoor track and field and moved to No. 2 in the triple jump and No. 3 in the long jump in outdoor track. Shared Cal State LA’s Billie Jean King Award for the best female athlete. Made a sensational debut for the Golden Eagles in indoor track, qualifying for nationals in her first meet and then winning the national title in the triple jump. Backed that up with a second-place finish in the long jump. Earned 18 points to lead the Golden Eagles to an 11th-place team finish. Was named West Region Field Athlete of the Year and earned All-West Region honors in the long jump and triple jump. Won California Collegiate Athletic Association championships in the long jump and triple jump in outdoor track and was named the CCAA Field Athlete of the Meet. Finished second in the nation in the long jump and 12th in the long jump. Earned eight points at nationals to lift Cal State LA to a 29th place finish. Earned All-West Region honors in the long jump and triple jump. Had best marks of 12.23 in the 100, 21-3.25 in the long jump and 42-3.25 in outdoor track and 7.92 in the 60, 20-8 in the long jump and 43-3.25 in the triple jump in indoor.

At UNLV: Won Mountain West Conference championships in the long jump and triple jump in outdoor track in 2021 and won conference titles in the long jump and triple jump in indoor track in 2020. Became the first to win conference titles in both the long jump and triple jump since 2013. Had best marks of 20-4.25 in the long jump and 43-3.25 in the triple jump in outdoor track and had best marks of 19-10.75 in the long jump and 42-5.25 in the triple jump in indoor track.

At Academies of Education: Was the MVP of her track team and a school record holder in the long jump and triple jump.

Personal: Daughter of David Young and Juanda Townsend. Majoring in sociology. Enjoys anything that has to do with music, fashion, makeup, dancing, fashion, hair and film. Lists competing at the U.S. Olympic Trials as her most exciting experience in sports. Notes she is very family oriented as the only girl with four brothers, two of them younger and two of them older. Says they mean the world to her and without them she wouldn’t be who she is today. Says she loves anything that allows her to be creative and that she expresses her creativity through her hobbies.
