Summary

Biography

2024: Had another strong season for the Golden Eagles in his second year with the program. Appeared in 36 games with 23 starts. Hit .286 with four home runs, 16 runs batted in and 16 runs scored. Also made eight relief appearance and had a 0-0 record and a 4.70 earned run average in 7 2/3 innings. Walked six and struck out eight. Had a career-high four hits as part of a 4-for-5 performance in a 20-9 win over Stanislaus State on May 3. Scored a career-high three runs, drove in a career-high four runs and had three doubles in the game. Hit a tie-breaking two-run triple in the seventh inning of a come-from-behind 8-6 win at Sonoma State on April 12. Hit home runs in back-to-back games at San Francisco State. Went 2-for-6 with a three-run home run in a 17-14 win on April 27 and hit a two-run home run in a 12-8 win on April 28. Didn’t allow a run in six of his eight relief appearances. Struck out the side against La Sierra on Feb. 17.

2023: Made positive contributions for the Golden Eagles as a true freshman in his first year with the program. Appeared in 25 games with 14 starts and had three home runs and 12 RBI in 52 at bats. Also scored eight runs. Also had a strong season on the mound, compiling a 1.59 earned run average while making five relief appearances. Pitched 5 2/3 innings and recorded one save. Made his Cal State LA debut and got the start in a 15-2 win over Providence Christian on Feb. 2. Drove in his first run. Hit his first collegiate home run with a solo shot in the sixth inning against The Master’s on Feb. 3. Had a two home-run game in a 7-4 win over Colorado School of Mines on Feb. 17. Hit a solo home run in the third inning and added a two-run homer in his next at bat in the fourth. Had a two-run single as part of a four-run rally in the 10th inning of a 7-3 win at Chico State on May 5. Hit safely in eight games with one multi-hit and multi-home run game. Pitched a scoreless inning to record the save in a 10-9 win over Colorado School of Mines on Feb. 18.

At South Hills High School: Was the 2022 San Gabriel Valley All-Star Game Defensive Most Valuable Player. Had a batting average of .305 with four home runs and 15 runs batted in.

Personal: Son of Adrian and Marlow Penuelas. Majoring in communications. Enjoys hikes, the beach and baseball. Lists seeing himself growing up and getting better at baseball as his most exciting experiences in sports.
