AZUSA -- Cal State LA's men's and women's track and field teams began a weekend of last chances and very last chances on Friday at Azusa Pacific's Franson Last Chance Meet.
The two[day Azusa meet will conclude on Saturday and then the Golden Eagles will host their own "Very Last Chance Meet" on Sunday at Jesse Owens Track.
The day was highlighted by a pair of personal bests in the sprints and a season's best mark in the long jump from CCAA triple jump champion Summer Stevenson.
Drew Hill recorded a personal best of 10.27 while posting the No. 1 qualifying time in the 100. He improved his provisional qualifying mark from 10.31 to 10.27 in the process. He was tied for 22nd in the nation entering the weekend. A time of 10.27 was 16th in the nation entering the weekend.
Hill will be joined in the final on Saturday by CCAA champion
Wallace Aflamah, who was third in the qualifying with a time of 10.46.
Freshman Keiasja Carbins recorded her fastest time of the season and qualified for Saturday's final with a mark of 12.01 that was No. 7 in the prelims on Friday.
Stevenson was sixth in the long jump with a season's best of 19-4. She got her mark on her first jump, fouled on her next two and passed on her next three. The 19-4 is a provisional qualifying mark.
The final day of the Franson Last Chance Meet will be held on Saturday.
