CLAREMONT -- Cal State LA's men's cross country team continued to show improvement on Saturday at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.
Raye Duarte was the team's No. 1 runner for a third straight meet and 11 Golden Eagles competed in the 8,000-meter race. Cal State LA finished 14th out of 20 teams competing with 411 points.
Cal Poly Pomona won the event and led three California Collegiate Athletic Association teams in the race. Cal State Monterey Bay was seventh.
Duarte finished 79th out of a field of 223 with a time of 27:11.0.
Orion Perez was next for the Golden Eagles, placing 105th in 27:46.3.
Trent Osburn was 126th in 28:17.6,
Christian Perez was 132nd in 28:29.3 and
Miguel Morales-Lopez completed the top five by finishing 136th in 28:34.8.
Demitri Hernandez was 143rd in 28:38.7 and
Nicholas Delgado was 150th in 28:47.8.
Antonio Mendoza-Lopez was 188th in 30:20.2,
Damian Bonds was 190th in 30:40.7,
Joshua Lovato was 197th in 31:19.3 and
Joshua Pearson was 211th in 34:27.8.
Cal State LA will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 18, at the UC Riverside Highlander Classic.
