Box Score 2 LOS ANGELES – Cal State L.A.'s baseball team had an ace up its sleeve in the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader.
The Golden Eagles, after dropping the opener to Dixie State College in a wild 14-10 decision, got a seven-inning shutout from
Jordan Sechler to win the nightcap, 4-0, in non-conference play at Reeder Field. Cal State L.A. (2-3) carried a 10-9 lead in the ninth inning of the opener, but Dixie State scored five times after two were out to pull out the win.

The Golden Eagles struggled for runs against Dedrick, who went five innings and gave up five hits and two runs.
Cody Doyle singled in a run in the first and
Niko Garcia walked with the bases loaded to force in another run in the fourth.
Cal State L.A. added a pair of unearned runs in the sixth to give Sechler some extra breathing room in the seventh.

Jordan Cavazos pitched the final 2 1/3 innings and gave up four earned runs.
Cedric Johnson and Kevin Kline hit home runs for the Red Storm, while Wharton connected on his second home run of the season for the Golden Eagles.
Dixie State broke a 6-6 tie with two runs in the top of the seventh, but Cal State L.A. scored three times in the bottom of the inning to take a 9-8 lead. Wharton led off the inning with a home run,
Ryan Cooperstone scored on a passed ball and
Peter Straka singled in the go-ahead run.
Dixie State tied it up with a run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Nash, but Cal State L.A. regained the lead in the bottom of the inning on a run-scoring single by Cooperstone that made it 10-9.
The Golden Eagles were then one strike away from a win when Kata delivered his bases-clearing double to right-center. Dixie State added two more runs and Kort Christofferson retired the Golden Eagles in order in the ninth to preserve the win for Cody White.
Cal State L.A. and Dixie State will conclude the series with a doubleheader at Reeder Field on Sunday beginning at 10 a.m.
