Summary

Biography

2011: Had an outstanding season for the Golden Eagles in her final year with the volleyball program. Appeared in 27 matches and played a total of 85 sets. Led the team in kills for a second time with 248 and was second on the team in points with 267.5. Earned second-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors. For her career, appeared in 54 matches and in a total of 188 sets. Had 533 kills, 64 blocks, 21 service aces, 125 digs and 592 points.

2010: Had a successful return to the volleyball court and led the Golden Eagles in kills with 285. Was also third on the team in points with 324.5 and fifth in service aces with 17. Reached double figures in kills 19 times. Earned first-team CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District 8 honors and was named the team’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Earned a Division II Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Award and also received the Academic Achievement Award from Cal State L.A.’s Division of Intercollegiate Athletics.

2009: Competed well for the Golden Eagles in her one year with the track and field program. Earned All-CCAA honors in the javelin after finishing third in the conference championships. Had a best mark of 122-11.

At Cal Poly Pomona: Competed in the heptathlon for Cal Poly Pomona’s track team in 2008 and had a best mark of 3,503 points. Finished eighth in the conference in the javelin and ninth in the heptathlon. Had a best mark of 120-6 in the javelin. Had best times of 15.97 in the 100 hurdles and 64.67 in the 400 hurdles as a freshman in 2007. Also competed for two years in volleyball for the Broncos. Appeared in 22 matches and 39 games for the Broncos as a sophomore in 2007. Was seventh on the team in kills with 93 and averaged 2.38 per game, which was third on the team. Appeared in 21 matches and 56 games as a freshman in 2006 and was seventh on the team in kills with 77.

At South Hills High School: Earned first-team All-San Antonio League and All-CIF honors as a senior and was the San Gabriel Valley Tribune’s Player of the Year. Was the South Hills High School Athlete of the Year and the Marine Corps’ Distinguished Athlete. Was the league Most Valuable Athlete and the team MVP in track and field. Captured league championships in the 100 high hurdles, 300 low hurdles, 4x100 and 4x400 in her junior and senior years.

Personal: Daughter of Rick and Maria Gonzalez. Majoring in psychology. Enjoys cooking, tanning, texting and looking for starfish at the tidepools. Lists being able to play two sports in college (volleyball and track and field) and competing in the heptathlon last year at Cal Poly Pomona as her most exciting experiences in sports.
