2009: Had another tremendous season for the Golden Eagles to complete an outstanding career with the program. Earned her fifth All-America award after finishing fifth in the nation in the steeplechase. Had tremendous success at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships and scored points for the team in four events. Finished second in the steeplechase, sixth in the 1,500 meters, eighth in the 800 and eighth in the 5,000. Had best marks of 2:20.37 in the 800 meters, 4:37.61 in the 1,500, 10:05.22 in the 3,000, 10:43.62 in the steeplechase and 17:36.14 in the 5,000. Also had another outstanding indoor season. Had best times of 2:22.51 in the 800 and 5:10.04 in the mile. For her career, had best marks of  2:20.37 in the 800, 4:31.01 in the 1,500, 9:53.76 in the 3,000, 10:43.62 in the steeplechase and 17:36.14 in the 5,000 in outdoor track and 2:21.59 in the 800, 4:55.29 in the mile and 17:22.97 in the 5,000 in indoor track. Finished her career No. 1 all-time at Cal State L.A. in the steeplechase, No. 7 all-time in the 1,500 and No. 9 all-time in the 3,000 in outdoor track and No. 1 all-time in the mile, No. 3 all-time in the 800, No. 4 in the 5,000, No. 6 as part of a 4x400 relay team and No. 2 as part of the distance medley in indoor track. Earned a total of five All-America awards and eight All-CCAA awards in her career.
2008: In her Cal State L.A. career, has earned four All-America honors and seven All-CCAA awards. Qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field championships in the 5,000 meters and finished 16th in the nation. Had best times of 17:22.97 in the 5,000 meters, 5:04.35 in the mile and 2:30.81 in the 800. Missed the majority of the outdoor season because of injury. Had best times of 4:38.41 in the 1,500 and 9:58.52 in the 3,000 before being sidelined. Named Cal State L.A.'s Exceptional Student-Athlete of the Year (female) for 2007-08.
2007: Earned All-America honors in the steeplechase after finishing fourth in the nation with a time of 10:46.6. Captured the California Collegiate Athletic Association championship in that event with a winning time of 10:47.08. Also earned All-CCAA honorable mention in two events after taking third in the 1500 with a time of 4:43.73 and third in the 3000 with a time of 10:01.50. Earned All-America honors in indoor track and field after finishing eighth in the mile with a time of 4:55.29. Won the CCAA individual title in cross country in the fall and led the Golden Eagles to a team championship. Also finished fifth in the NCAA Division II West Region championships to earn All-Region honors and took 25th in the nation to earn All-America honors. Earned the department's 2006-07 Billie Jean King Award as Cal State L.A.'s top female athlete.
2006: Earned her first All-CCAA award in 2006 after receiving honorable mention by finishing third in the steeplechase with a time of 11:10.29. Finished 10th in the nation in that event with a time of 11:22.07. Also helped lead the Golden Eagles to a best-ever fourth-place national finish in cross country in the fall. Earned All-America honors by finishing 24th in the country. Also earned All-West Region honors by finishing fifth in 21:27.09 while helping the Golden Eagles to a regional championship. Earned All-CCAA honors after finishing third in the conference with a time of 23:06.00. Also picked up USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
2005: Earned All-CCAA honors in her first season of cross country by finishing 15th in 22:45.0. Also placed 18th in the West Regional and helped the Golden Eagles to a fifth-place team finish.
At L.A. City College: Finished second in the state in the 3,000 steeplechase.
At John Marshall HS: Did not compete in high school.
Personal: Daughter of Juan Alburez and Bertha Garcia. Majoring in Kinesiology. Enjoys running, biking and swimming. Lists qualifying and competing in nationals and earning All-Academic honors as her most exciting experiences in sports.
