Biography

2021: Was on the roster, but team did not compete due to COVID-19 in his final year with the program. For his career, appeared in 42 games with 36 starts for the Golden Eagles. Had an 11-14 record with a 5.28 earned run average. Pitched a total of 218 1/3 innings and had 81 walks and 153 strikeouts.

2020: Had an outstanding start to the year for the Golden Eagles before the season was halted. Had a 2-2 record with a 2.35 earned run average in five starts. Was the team’s No. 1 starter. Led the team in innings pitched with 30 2/3, strikeouts with 38 and wins. Walked only nine batters. Earned California Collegiate Athletic Association “All-Star” recognition at the end of the shortened season. Had an outstanding start to open the season in an 8-2 win over Northwest Nazarene on Feb. 7. Allowed only three hits and struck out nine through six shutout innings to get the win. Allowed only two hits and one run and got the victory in a 3-1 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Feb. 14. Tossed six shutout innings, allowing only six hits, one walk and striking out while getting a no-decision at Cal Poly Pomona on Feb. 21. In first three starts, allowed only 11 hits and one run while walking five and striking out 25 over 19 1/3 innings.

2019: Had a third solid season for the Golden Eagles as a junior. Led the team in innings pitched with a career-high 66 2/3 and had the lowest earned run average among starters. Shared the team lead with 11 starts. Finished the season with a 3-4 record and a 4.32 earned run average. Was second on the team in strikeouts with a career-best 56. Won three straight starts during March. Allowed six hits and three earned runs over six innings in a 15-10 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills on March 9. Gave up only one earned run over seven innings in a 6-2 win over Stanislaus State on March 16 and gave up four hits and no earned runs over five innings in a 6-4 win at Chico State on March 24. Went at least five innings in 10 of his 11 starts. Gave up two earned runs or less in six starts. Set a new career best in strikeouts with eight over seven innings at Sonoma State on April 6.

2018: Was a key member of the rotation for a second season with the Golden Eagles. Appeared in 13 games with 10 starts. Was third on the team in victories and finished the season with a 4-3 record and a 6.98 earned run average. Recorded 28 walks and 33 strikeouts over 58 innings. Was third on the team in innings pitched. Picked up his first win by allowing only four hits and one run over seven innings in a 5-4 victory at Cal State East Bay on Feb. 25. Got a win after allowing eight hits and four runs over 4 2/3 innings at Cal Poly Pomona in the second game of a doubleheader on March 11. Gave up six hits and three runs over six innings to get the win at Stanislaus State on March 25. Pitched 6 2/3 strong innings and allowed eight hits and three runs in a 4-3 win at Cal State San Bernardino on May 4. Had a season-high five strikeouts over four innings against Stanislaus State on Feb. 9 and over seven innings at Cal State East Bay on Feb. 25.

2017: Had a promising first season with the Cal State LA program. Appeared in 13 games with 10 starts for the Golden Eagles. Was second on the team in innings pitched with 63. Had a 2-5 record with a 6.14 earned run average. Picked up his first victory after throwing seven shutout innings in a 10-0 win over Cal State San Bernardino on Feb. 25. Allowed only three hits while walking three and striking out two. Pitched 3 1/3 innings of effective relief against Cal State San Marcos on May 5 for his second win. Allowed only one earned run over six innings against Stanislaus State on April 22. Didn’t walk a batter and struck out four. Had a season-high five strikeouts twice.

At Serrano High School: Was on a team that won a CIF championship in 2015. Earned All-Area honors three times, All-League honors three times and All-State honors. Was 9-1 with a 1.51 earned run average as a junior and went 5-4 with a 1.68 earned run average as a senior. Also hit .269 with 35 RBI in 160 at bats.

Personal: Son of Tye and Jessica Andross. Majoring in business management. Enjoys reading, writing and math. Lists taking hacks in batting practice as his most exciting experiences in sports. Notes he has two brothers and two sisters.
